2 Essential Characteristics of a Behavior Analyst Individual supervisors of a new behavior analyst should be able to portray specific characteristics in line with the guidelines set for all the professionals in the Behavior Analyst Certification Board field. The vast literature should endow behavior analysts with ways of conducting functional analyses. The new professional in the behavioral analysis should create an effective supervisor-supervisee bond. Supervisors should understand the weight of their role as mentors to supervisees. The supervisor should be able to demonstrate knowledge in all aspects of behavior analysis, such as having requisite treatment skills, ethical skills requirements, and professional conduct (Khan & Khan, 2022). Secondly, new behavior analysts should be able to establish a strong relationship with a commitment to supervisees. A strong relationship between the supervisors and supervisees leads to the development of a learning context allowing supervisees to make simple mistakes and learn from them. Khan and Khan (2022) agree that supervisors should be able to show commitment to the supervisees by being concerned and friendly to their clients. Moreover, the supervisor should exercise professionalism while trying to be nice to the supervisee and not going overboard and developing too much unethical attachment. Another essential characteristic of new behavior analysts is the ability to evaluate the effects of their supervision. Supervisors should create a system that allows assessment of their supervision roles. Supervisors should be keen on identifying new skills learned by supervisees by noting changes in the body language modeled by supervisors. Lastly, supervisors should comply with the code requirement needed in behavioral analysis (Hampton & Sandbank, 2022). References
