Unit V Discussion Board Question What managers' decisions have you seen as a course of action or program in health or safety that upheld the value of "human capital," or people in the organization? Do you recommend a different course of action in hindsight? A manager’s decisions that upheld the worth or importance of people in my organization involved allowing employees to work from their homes after floods affected the region. The region had rained heavily and floods made it challenging and risky for employees to go to work. Since a client’s project was due in 10 days, the manager had to come up with a quick decision. He requested the management to provide each employee with necessary resources such as a configured laptop, internet connection, and VPN connectivity permission. This course of action was established because the manager valued the safety of the workers. I do not recommend a different decision because the manager’s course of action resulted in the smooth continuation and completion of the project. His decision enhanced the flexibility and safety of the employees enabling them to complete their roles while at home. If they had traveled to work during the floods, their health and lives would have been at risk. I believe that managers should be considerate to ensure that employees’ health and safety are not at stake. Do you think the safety and health of workers can be put at risk for the benefit of the organization?
