The first fact that can be compared between the search made by policemen in hick's case with that of the Myers case is that the policemen in hick's case did not have a warrant to search the apartment of the suspect while Detective Alonzo did have a warrant for his search. The obtainment of the serial numbers for the stereo also violated the 4
th
amendment as they were unrelated to the case and along with this the justification for the search was found to be unjustified by the court. Items related to the crime were found in both domiciles being inspected in the Myer’s and Hick’s cases. In Hick’s case, a sawed-
off rifle along with three other weapons and a stocking cap mask were found in the apartment of the suspect. like Myer’s case drug paraphernalia was also found in the apartment. After examining the stereos, the officers were able to conclude that the stereos
were indeed stolen and were able to obtain a warrant to seize the stereos and any other components proven to be stolen. An opening allowed the officers to view the stereos without moving them. Along with the stolen stereos, the officers found two stolen watches by the window, and finally, after playing several tapes of recordings in the defendant's projector the suspect was arrested due to the possession of obscene matter. Again, it is concluded that the search was found unjustified by the court as it went against
the 4
th
amendment. These facts are like that of Myer’s case also as both officers and Detective Alonzo used their skills of key examination to find items related to the crimes being investigated with the bloody handkerchief in the coat pocket of Myers and the photo of Nadine Bostick that led to the discovery of her deceased body which can be compared with the 4 weapons, stolen stereos and two watches found by the police officers with the only difference being that Alonzo had a warrant for his search while the officers didn’t.
