The most important provision that should be negotiated on behalf of Reznor is the length of the
contract. In order to secure a one-year contract with the possibility of a two-year extension,
I should negotiate with Malm. Reznor wants to commit to a one-year agreement, but Malm's
original contract was for three years. This would assure that Malm could manage Reznor for
three years, while at the same time offering Reznor the option to terminate the agreement after a
year if he is not satisfied with Malm's management. Additionally, as a lawyer, I would create a
provision allowing Reznor the right to end the agreement for any reason and at any time. I
would also ask for a clause requiring Malm to get Reznor's consent before signing any contracts
on Reznor's behalf. Reznor would then be able to control the contracts that are signed on his
behalf and make sure that, whether or not he signs them himself, he is happy with the terms of
any agreements that are made. Finally, I would negotiate a provision for an agreement that
requires Malm to provide Reznor with regular updates on how Reznor's career is being managed.
This provision would allow Reznor to be updated on Malm’s performance as his manager and
make sure that he is happy with the decisions he is making.
