3-1 Homework Activity: Module Three
Prof. Nicholas Cain
December 24, 2023
Introduction
Personal Trainer, Inc. is a fitness corporation that operates many satellite offices in the Midwest and is opening a new center in Canada (SNHU, 2023). Currently, the fitness centers handle all their accounting and human resource operations through an accounting software, Bumblebee, SNHU, 2023). Due to Bumblebee’s constrained technology and functionality, Personal Trainer is
looking to expand its current technology and accounting practices with a system that will meet its and consumers' needs. Susan Park, an IT consultant, is hired to help develop and implement a new accounting, membership, and human resource system for the opening of the new center in Toronto and expansion to existing centers. Susan will work with Gary Lewis, the assigned manager of the new center and expansion project (SNHU, 2023).
Approach
Susan’s initial approach is to create a business profile of Personal Trainer. A business profile summarizes a company’s functions, products, services, consumers, merchants, rivals, constraints, and future direction of the company's mission and vision (Tilley & Rosenblatt, 2023). Through her research and fact-finding, Susan should compile the information into a business process model to describe the processes and document events relating to business flows from start to finish. Accomplishing the approach to the system change will require a system analyst business flow that will describe the positives and negatives of each business flow, whether they remain the same or change. The documentation will allow Susan and Gary to redirect if a process fails and discover other best practices that agree with the company’s new business plan for the new center.
Interpretation
Susan must leave all the details to be understood, as this can create a business workflow failure. Creating an iterative process allows the construction, enhancement, and improvement of a project, product, or initiative (Martins, 2022). As humans, we can misinterpret information based on how it is given, and as the system analyst, Susan must not leave any system details to be misinterpreted or assumed. Even the smallest detail of change should be represented in the plan.
