2 Network Configurations Definitions IP Address and DNS: A DNS is a system and set of rules that associates domain names (such as web servers) with unique IP addresses so users can find and use network resources by an easily readable name instead of by IP address. An IP Address is Every computing device that accesses the Internet is assigned a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address. These addresses consist of either four (IPv4) or eight (IPv6) parts an example of a four-part IP address is 137.75.68.206. Server and Client: A server is a computer or system that provides resources, data, services, or programs to other computers, known as clients, over a network. a client is any computer hardware or software device that requests access to a service provided by a server. VPN: A virtual private network is a mechanism for creating a secure connection between a computing device and a computer network, or between two networks, using an insecure communication medium such as the public Internet. Firewalls: a firewall is a network security system that monitors and controls incoming and outgoing network traffic based on predetermined security rules. A firewall typically establishes a barrier between a trusted network and an untrusted network, such as the Internet. LANs and WANs: LAN means local area network. WAN means a wide area network.
3 Network Configurations Justin's Network Diagram The current System Part 1 - The Internet Connection goes from the Modem to the router. Part 2 - The Router Has a firewall and a wireless connection. Part 3 - The Router plugs directly to the IP Phone. Part 4 - The Router plugs into the PC then the Printer gets plugged into the PC as well.

His PC is connected to the router via a cord, and he has directly connected his printer to the computer for efficient printing. Furthermore, Justin has connected an IP Phone to the router.
