Business Intelligence
June 7th, 2021
Edward Sanchez
Dear Debbie,
Business Intelligence is the subject of my final assignment. This phrase refers to the process of
gathering, evaluating, and storing data from businesses for them to listen to and analyze data in
order to enhance performance. Business intelligence enables companies to analyze data in order
to make informed decisions and ensure that their operations function smoothly and efficiently.
Businesses can employ a variety of different business intelligence procedures. Data mining,
reporting, performance metrics and benchmarking, descriptive analytics, querying, statistical
analysis, data visualization, visual analysis, and data preparation are all examples of these
activities. Data, which is a critical component of business intelligence, is present in all of these
activities. Data allows us to assess how our company is performing and where problems may
exist. Simply said, data is a picture of the complete company and its operations.
In today's world of information technology, ethical concerns are frequent. Personal privacy,
copyright, liability, and piracy are some of the difficulties that may arise. There are many more
issues to discuss, but these are the ones that piqued my interest the most.
According to
GeeksforGeeks (2020), “
Ethical Issues in Information Technology (IT)
.”
, personal privacy is an
important aspect of this topic. They proceed to say “
IT facilitates the users having their own
hardware, operating system and software tools to access the servers that are connected to each
other and to the users by a network. Due to the distribution of the network on a large scale, data
or information transfer in a big amount takes place which leads to the hidden chances of
disclosing information and violating the privacy of any individuals or a group.
” This clarifies
that there may be chances of your own privacy or information being disclosed even if you have
your own hardware or software. This seems to be an issue that could be arising throughout many
companies and businesses. For example, Zoom. Zoom gave out data to third parties without their
users’ knowledge. The way this happened was with the integration of LinkedIn which would give
our user information to the other individual even if they were anonymously signing in with
Zoom.
Information systems rely on data kept in computer databases which can store and analyze data
from the business to help them make decisions. The same technologies used by information
systems can likewise be used to aid business processes. It is extremely advantageous to
businesses.
Monthly and weekly reports are some of the most essential information provided by business
intelligence. Businesses can use the information in these reports to make more informed
decisions. The reports can also reveal when the business was performing poorly throughout the
month or week, as well as what might have caused it. This might include reports of weekly and
monthly statistics from businesses at the start of the pandemic. The data revealed how they were
affected, as well as assisting them in making certain decisions and taking certain risks.

Copyright is another term you may have come across on the internet, in businesses, or on
websites. It refers to a legal right that an owner may have over a particular piece of intellectual
property. Is this to say you won't be able to utilize or listen to it? Both yes and no. You may listen
to it or use it, but you may not copy it or pass it off as your own. If you do use it, you would be
required to give full credits to the original owner. You might see these types of situations on
YouTube as well. If you do decide to use it, you must provide full credit to the original creator.
These kinds of events can also be seen on YouTube.
Liabilities such as accounts payable, taxes payable, salaries and wages payable, and payroll taxes
are also included in information systems. There are many more liabilities than the ones I just
mentioned, but those are some of the more common ones. Information systems are included
because they assist businesses in determining their liabilities.
What are the benefits of this in terms of management projects? Making data-driven judgments is
the whole reason of information systems. These decision-making scenarios can aid project
management in a variety of ways, including due dates, revisions, risks, integrations, new
software, and so on. Companies prosper when they can collect their data, analyze, and improve
their business.
Business intelligence might come from data gathered by information systems or from outside
sources. This is what allows a company to function as it does. There are numerous businesses all
around us. They all employ business intelligence, but some may be more effective than others,
which is why companies compete. They aspire to outperform the competition in terms of sales.
Competition isn't always a terrible thing; it can sometimes be beneficial. In my opinion,
competition encourages the growth of new firms and opportunities for others.
Best Regards,
Edward Sanchez
