If more room is needed label each task with the question number and use headings or dot points to make your work clear for your trainer and assessor. Please follow the Referencing Guide

Question 1
Explain the importance of ergonomic environments and why you should adjust workspace, furniture and
equipment.
According to Safe Work Australia, the total economic cost of work-related injuries and illnesses is estimated to be $60 billion dollars. Recent research has shown that lower back pain is the world’s most common work-related disability – affecting employees from offices, building sites and in the
highest risk category, agriculture. Ergonomics aims to create safe, comfortable, and productive workspaces by bringing human abilities and limitations into the design of a workspace, including the individual’s body size, strength, skill, speed, sensory abilities (vision, hearing), and even attitudes. Question 2
Why are workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements important for your workspace when using digital devices such as laptops, mobile phones?
Implementing ergonomic solutions can make employees more comfortable and increase productivity.
Under Australian WHS laws your business must ensure the health and safety of your workers and not put the health and safety of other people at risk. To do this you must:
-Provide a safe work environment
-Provide and maintain safe machinery and structures
-Provide safe ways of working
-Ensure safe use, handling and storage of machinery, structures and substances
-Provide and maintain adequate facilities
-Provide any information, training, instruction, or supervision needed for safety
-Monitor the health of workers and conditions at the workplace.
