Your Answer:
The quality revolution introduced many tools that can be used to improve the quality of
project related processes and outcomes. List three core quality concepts and briefly note
how they can be applied to projects.
Core quality concepts that can be used to improve the quality processes
in the projects were listed below.
1. Stakeholder satisfaction - It states that customer satisfaction
determines the final success/failure of the project. It consists of all the
stakeholders identified and their corresponding level of need for the
requirements. This concept can be applied to identify the stakeholders,
prioritize the stakeholders, understand and prioritize their requirements,
develop standards to be followed, and make trade-off decisions. Since it
is impossible to perfect compliance for all the requirements, this will help
in making a priority in what requirements are most needed and what can
be altered.
2. Process Management - A process is a sequence of activities to be
completed in order to achieve the required result. Process management
involves process understanding, process control, and process
improvement. Process understanding is in with the complete project
process sequence, priority of activities, and deliverables in each stage.
Process control is a method of ensuring conformance to the requirements
and taking necessary actions if needed.
3. Process Improvement - It involves the continuous improvement of the
process which will help in improving the quality of the project. the process
improvement will follow the cycle of the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA)
method for the process improvement.
4. Fact-based Management - decision making is one of the major
challenges faced by project managers. Making decisions using facts
sounds like an obvious choice but is difficult to follow because of opinions.
aspects of fact-based management are understanding variation, deciding
what to measure, working correctly with data, and using the resulting
information appropriately.
