The career that I choose to explore within the policing component of the criminal justice system is that of a police officer. Police officers’ job is not easy like people think. They do not just drive around all
day and stop for coffee and donuts like people think. They actually do a lot that we don’t know about unless you look into it. They risk their lives everyday as they guard the community but also the public. Sometimes they are called out of their jurisdiction for some cases. There job is not always safe either they sometime get into shootings and sometimes they do not get to come home. The professional standards for police officers are responsibility and accountability, honesty and integrity, lawful orders, use of force, authority, equality, confidentiality, fitness for duty, general conduct, challenging and reporting[ CITATION Cen06 \l 1033 ].
The career that I chose to explore with in the court component of the criminal justice system is that of guardian ad litem. A guardian or GAL is a type off guardian given to you by the court for the duration of a legal action. The court gives you a guardian for juveniles and the mentally incompetent. They are mostly given to assist in protecting their legal rights. They have the child’s best interest when they are being abused or neglected. The professional standards for a GAL are collaboration, integrity, respect, quality, service, and stewardship[ CITATION Mis19 \l 1033 ].
The career that I chose to explore with in the court component of the criminal justice system is that of a correctional officer. A correctional officer is a uniformed officer that is responsible for the care, supervision, safety, and those that are incarcerated. That is not an easy job either and not always safe either. The professional standards for a correctional officer are The American correctional Association expects of its members unfailing honesty, respect for the dignity and individuality of human beings and a
commitment to professional and compassionate service[ CITATION ACA \l 1033 ].
Policing works with policing because they enforce the law and protect the public. Their job is to arrest suspects that do criminal things. A guardian works with courts because the courts will assign a guardian to juveniles that need them. The work together to keep children safe. Lastly the corrections officers work with corrections because they control what goes on in prisons and their job is to keep them
safe in there.
State Trooper are police, but they work on the highways and for the state not the community. They still keep the public safe just by watching the highways.
