Information Literacy
The importance of developing information literacy skills is because it plays a large part into your ability to think critically and analyzing information. Information literacy is recognizing information and determining if it is relevant based on the context, and the effective use of the data to be processed. Information literacy focuses on the source and body of the information in order you to determine its relevance. Information is all over the place in today’s world thanks to the internet, but not all of it can or should be used depending on the topic it is discussing. In the academic setting it helps students better select articles, periodicals, non- fiction collections, internet sources allowing them to better question and consider what is in the information.
The Concise Guide to Information Literacy contributed to a greater understanding of how to determine what is and what is not appropriate for using as information for research. This was a great way to present types of information and how to utilize them appropriately. This information will assist me in the real world when reviewing real world events, determining credible or not. This will also assist me academically and assist me while completing projects and papers.
