BPMN was made to get a more visual dynamic appearance to detail processes for the end user to understand. The leverage comes in the form of attracting stakeholders by showing the processes instead of telling them. BPMN is a graphical representation for specifying business processes in a workflow start to finish. BPMN helps to streamline your business processes to make visual effects available to engage stakeholders for easier understanding.
“Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) was originally developed by the Business Process Management Initiative (BPMI). They released version 1.0 to the public in May, 2004. In June 2005, BPMI merged with Object Management Group (OMG). A BPMN Specification document was released by OMG in February 2006. Version 2.0 of BPMN was developed in 2010, and the actual version of the specification was released in December 2013. The latest version (2.0.2) has been formally published by ISO as the 2013 edition standard: ISO/IEC 19510” (The History of BPMN-BPMN-Guide, 2013) .
This picture was found online titled The History of BPMN listed below in the citations. Web services enable business processes to be more flexible, scalable, reusable, and adaptable to changing requirements and environments. Combining BPMN with web services allows organizations to map, define, and automate, and share visually the processes of a business. Using web-based tools such as IBM Business Process Manager, Innovator for Business Analysts (free download) will help facilitate the ease of sharing, editing, and creating a BPMN chart. Here is a narrative: Bob wants to build a business process modeling notation (BPMN), so he goes online to Lucidchart.com and makes a process map. His map can include tasks, transactions, conversions, call activities, data storage, and more. Once Bob made his BPMN, he wanted to get feedback and collaborate with others, so he used the web based service Lucidchart to do that. He can control and customize permissions, giving users view-only, comment only, or editing access, to better manage his diagrams and processes while keeping teams and stakeholders up to date. This makes Bob very happy. Bob can share and present his polished BPMNs online with others. Bob is jumping for joy.
