Server Security Case Study
-
Background
East West Training provides vocational educational training for business and
management studies qualifications. They have been in business for a number of years but over the last year their business has grown considerably which has led to problems with their existing IT infrastructure.
-
Business Objectives
They have identified the following business objectives
To grow their business by another 10% per year for the next 3 years
To keep business data for 7 years.
To ensure data is secure and available -
Business Problems
The following problems have been identified
Their current server constantly runs out of disk space and the Office Manager has to browse through the files and folders and delete anything that is no longer required to make room.
The current backup tapes are worn and on occasions do not backup data overnight.
Users are not able to store their work data on the server as there is no
room, so they are forced to save files to their individual workstations.
-
Budget
The current budget for this upgrade is the following:
New server hardware $10,500
Server software $3,200
IT Specialist $7,000
Note: They are able to reallocate budget funds from other areas if needed but require justification to do so. Should you need more funds you will need
to write up a proposal identifying how the current budget will be spent and what additional funds are required.
