They have been in business for a number of years but over the last year their business has grown considerably which has led to problems with their existing IT infrastructure. - Business Objectives They have identified the following business objectives To grow their business by another 10% per year for the next 3 years To keep business data for 7 years. To ensure data is secure and available - Business Problems The following problems have been identified Their current server constantly runs out of disk space and the Office Manager has to browse through the files and folders and delete anything that is no longer required to make room. The current backup tapes are worn and on occasions do not backup data overnight. Users are not able to store their work data on the server as there is no room, so they are forced to save files to their individual workstations. - Budget The current budget for this upgrade is the following: New server hardware $10,500 Server software $3,200 IT Specialist $7,000 Note: They are able to reallocate budget funds from other areas if needed but require justification to do so. Should you need more funds you will need to write up a proposal identifying how the current budget will be spent and what additional funds are required. - - Existing Environment The existing environment contains the following:

DHCP for allocating IP Addresses to users 2. Data HDD capacity 750GB 3. DNS for looking up host names 4. FTP/Web services for accessing the internal intranet site 5. File and Print services. Currently there are 3 network shares 1. Management Share: Business and Office managers, course coordinators can access this share 2. Lecturers Share: This is for all full time and part time lecturers who need to access assessment and course data. 3. Student Share: This is for course data for students. This is also used for students to submit assignments electronically. 4. Printers: There are three printers: a. Management Colour printer (only available to business and office managers) b. All Staff printer (available to all staff only) c. Student printer (available to all staff and students) Part A - Identify Business Requirements You are required to develop a business proposal outlining what will be needed to upgrade the existing server environment and what steps will be taken, before you are allowed to proceed with the hardware purchase and installation and configuration of the server you must obtain approval. Your proposal must contain the following: - Address business problems, objectives, identifying budget - Look at data migration requirements ie what they have, and how is it going to be moved to the new server - Look at server 2012 requirements so as to size up server hardware - Documentation of design of network services, server applications, security and redundancy
