The Sheridan College Institute of T 905 845 9430 Technology and Advanced Learning 7899 McLaughlin Road sheridancollege.ca Brampton, Ontario L6Y 5H9 Brampton | Mississauga | Oakville Assignment 3: Creating Sprints, Releases, Mapping Stories to Sprints, and Burndown Charts Objectives: Create releases and sprints to structure project development. Map user stories to sprints and releases to align work with project objectives. Utilize burndown charts to track progress and identify potential roadblocks. Use the case study attached to the assignment box (MS Excel file) ) and the work completed in Assignment 2. Steps: 1. Creating Releases: Create releases in JIRA, specifying the release name (at least 2 releases). Enter start and end dates. Enter version number. 2. Creating Sprints: Divide each release into manageable sprints, typically one or two weeks in duration. Create sprints in JIRA, specifying the sprint name, start and end dates, and goals. Sprint Planning: Review the product backlog and select user stories to be included in the sprint. Estimate the effort required for each user story using story points or other metrics. Assign user stories to yourself. Mapping Stories to Sprints and Releases: Assign user stories to specific sprints based on priority, dependencies, and team capacity (create an estimated team capacity for your team).
The Sheridan College Institute of T 905 845 9430 Technology and Advanced Learning 7899 McLaughlin Road sheridancollege.ca Brampton, Ontario L6Y 5H9 Brampton | Mississauga | Oakville Ensure that user stories assigned to a sprint can be completed within the sprint duration. Burndown Charts: Generate burndown charts for each sprint and release in JIRA. Analyze the burndown charts to identify trends and patterns in team performance. You will need to enter an imaginary work completed in order to have a usable burn down chart. Please note that because this is being done instantly and not over 2 weeks (sprint) or multiple sprints (release), the chart may not show exactly as required. Please generate the chart and understand why it is showing up the way it is. By completing this assignment, you will gain hands-on experience in Release and Sprint creation in JIRA, sprint planning, and burndown charts to manage project development effectively. You will also develop a deeper understanding of how to structure and plan project work using JIRA. Submission Details: Assignment submissions: o Create a MS Word document for the submission.
