Hello Classmates,
On 12/14/2023 I received an email from my Chase Identity Monitoring System. Informing me of several security breach totaling 12 within the past 2
years.
Dark Web (5x) All five where from Compromised website listed as unknown.
Data Breach (6x). Four where from T-Mobile.com also listed as Compromised website and Two where Drivers license number from T-
Mobile.com breach Compromised website.
SSN (1x) Having used my Personal home address Data.
After reviewing this information. I called Miami-Dade Police think to file a Identity theft report. But, when the officer arrived I gave him the information that the Chase Identity Monitoring had gathered. However, the office was like. 'Lady, real criminal crime is going on while you are using taxes paying folks money on a call like this. When all you had to do is call your banks, credit reporting agencies to see if any crime had been done with my identity.
I felt silly! After he kindly brought me up to speed on how things like this worked. I politely thanked the officer and wrapped everything up in 3 minutes. Funny, I thought to myself! I am a tax paying citizen and I was worth calling the police to report and get information on what steps to take. For I had no Idea on what to do concerning my Data being Breached.
I looked up the meaning of compromised website. It "Implications, A compromised site refers to a site whose code has been manipulated to act in
ways that benefit a 3rd party, often at a detriment to you and your users." 3pg. Which lead me to what hacker use to keep you Data open to more attacks. Ransomware! Ransomware attacks mean, "
a type of malware that locks and encrypts a victim's data, files, devices or systems, rendering them inaccessible and unusable until the attacker receives a ransom payment" Sharon Shea, and Alissa Irei. I called and frozen all my Data at all credit reporting agencies and hired The Credit Pros and Credit.com to clean my credit, and protect it from Hackers!
In my conclusion, you can not be lazy about you personal Data. Go the extra mile to secure and protect it.
