This week’s group strategic plan assignment is intended to prepare you for the individual strategic plan assignment. Identify a publicly traded multinational company with fewer than 10,000 employees. The organization your team chooses must be (1) small- or medium-sized company Download small- or medium-sized company (no large companies like Walmart, Google, Microsoft, etc. (review the document for more information on this), (2) trading on the stock market within the past three years, (3) multinational (it is not necessary that the company has extensive international presence, but it must have some foreign operations so that you are able to complete certain aspects of the project). Conduct an external analysis (e.g., PESTEL and Porter’s five forces assessment) and internal analysis (e.g., core competencies and competitive advantages assessment, value-chain analysis, and ratio analysis). Based on your external analysis, identify the two most important opportunities and the two most eminent threats that your company is facing. Based on your internal analysis, identify the company’s two most important strengths and its two biggest weaknesses. The suggested format for this assignment is outlined below. You can customize it making sure to address all aspects of the outline in some logical sequence. Introduction o Summarize the purpose of the assignment and what the reader should expect to learn from your analysis Company profile o Name o Background (describe what the company does and offers) o Industry (provide a primary SIC or state the industry your company is in) o Revenue and profits (provide a table with the last three to five years of each and discuss trends) o Number of employees o Reputation Internal analysis o Business model (identify the customer value proposition and profit formula) o Vision and mission (discuss these overarching goals) o Ratio analysis (interpret the ratios in the context of the company’s current strategic effectiveness) o Core competencies (conduct a VRIO analysis to identify them)
