Introduction
Around 52% of Australia's information and communication technology (ICT) workforce is employed
within the manufacturing sector. The individuals in question demonstrate a diverse array of skills,
adaptability, and proficiency in utilising the instruments relevant to their profession. Due to the
prioritisation and specialisation of information and communication technology (ICT) professions,
individuals in these fields commonly exhibit a high level of expertise and receive specialised
education and training (
Wigan 2020, p12 (2)). The adaptability of individuals is enhanced by the
comprehensive overview of the goals, scope, and significance of the CBOK, along with the concluding
remarks.
Discussion
The professional standard includes adhering to a strong code of conduct and maintaining a high level
of ethics at all times. The major purpose of the ACS is to analyse the individual to ascertain whether
or not they possess the requisite skills and knowledge. The American Chemical Society (ACS)
provides certification for advanced study in chemistry and assesses their skills using in-house
specialists (
Hajny et al, 2021, p45 (2)).
If it operates in the field of information and communication technology and they abide by a set of
standards of conduct developed by peers and generally recognised by the public, then they may call
themself a member of a profession. As it increases the standard for members without requiring a
licence to operate, ICT service providers might potentially better serve their clients without fear of
legal ramifications.
The CBOK focuses on issues of ethics and society as they relate to the development and
implementation of ICT solutions (
De Roche et al, 2020, p20 (1)).
Conclusion
Therefore, it is clear that there is a need for a larger pool of people with expertise in information and
communication technology-related fields. Anyone thinking about applying to the ACS should read the
CBOK. The ACS Accreditation process includes verifying that all of a company's courses adhere to the
ICT Body of Knowledge and other standards for accreditation.
