Benefits of Hyper-
V Virtualization
Bobby Bray, Tyler Guinard, Corey Adams
Describe what Hyper-V is, what it is used for in business, and it's use and function in the cloud
•
Microsoft Hardware Virtualization that allows you to create and run a software version of a computer, called a VM (virtual machine).
•
The main purpose on the business side is to reduce costs of operations. Keeps minimum physical servers from being
used and more
virtual servers being used. Businesses use
Hyper-V to
create test environments for
new software on
multiple
operating systems.
•
Hyper-V
makes cloud-based applications available for use
across a virtual environment while
enabling IT to maintain control over the cloud
infrastructure, apps, and security.
Discuss how Hyper-V makes server management more simple or more complex.
•
If all your devices were Windows-based, I believe Hyper-V would make server management simpler.
•
Hyper-V is built into the Windows server, so there are no added expenses or licensing requirements.
•
All you need to do is enable and install it.
•
All of Hyper-V's management resources are in one area, which is convenient.
•
If you were to create a virtual network, Hyper-V would be helpful since all virtual machines would run applications and behave like physical machines.
•
Hyper-V would undoubtedly make it easier to manage virtual servers if an organization were willing to spend the money on enough storage and bandwidth to have them available.

Discuss how Hyper-V memory management differs from other virtualization products like VMWare.
VM ware uses an overcommit feature that allows the sharing of memory over multiple virtual machines.
Hyper-V uses Dynamic memory management. They encourage the administrators to set their own memory thresholds rather than using all allocated memory like the overcommit feature does in VM ware.
NOTES
Group 2:
(Bradley, Yanyi, Vivianni) Hyper-v virtualization platform. Hosts VMs and Servers in different containers. Uses Azure cloud. Increases recovery time in disasters. Easier for business to transfer to public or private cloud.
Hyper V is dynamic Memory. VM is better for a better memory management.
Hyper-v server management is easier than a owned physical one. Can set up back-up and recovery protocols on server.
Group3:
(Matthew Carter, Hayley Makkay-Punk, Joshua ) Moves host to host causes less downtown than moving physical OS. Allows Windows Powershell regardless of management policies. Running a hybrid cloud for businesses is the most effective way to run a VM.
Group4: (Eric, Jose, Kahlil, Patrick) Hyper-V Virtualization software to save money and time for better use of hardware recources. Enhanced session mode lets you connect via RDP. Implements golden image as a master image for VDI, VM, Server, or HDD but cost is more with VMWare and more challenging.
