Internship Report: Data Analysis for Direct Link
Introduction
Direct Link, owned by Post Nord provides personalized, global, and fully tracked delivery
services, pick and pack, and fulfillment to each location globally. The main services that are
provided by Direct Link include warehouse services, Nordic and global deliveries (Direct Link,
2022). I interned at Direct Link as a data analyst and this experience allowed me to sue my
statistical, web developing, and SQL skills to execute the responsibilities that were assigned to
me. I was tasked with presenting weekly reports and addressing external and internal requests. I
was also responsible for updating and building two dashboards at Direct Link. Additionally, I
identified, assessed, and proposed solutions to a problem that I identified at the organization.
Ideally, Direct Link lacked proper knowledge documentation of the databases that the
organization uses thus making it harder for new recruits and interns to learn the crucial activities
and role that they should execute while at the company. With the help of other interns and
employees, I helped implement a workable web-based search engine for the data collected using
search engine and indexing. This allowed new recruits and interns access and utilize these
documentations securely and easily. Being part of Direct Link’s workforce provided me with an opportunity of putting my academic
knowledge to use. Direct Link is an organization that offers an educational and healthy
environment to interns with an open-door policy which prompts the company’s staff to provide
their best work. Therefore, working as a data analyst at the organization was a good experience
since I dealt with significant data collected from the company’s databases. My internship as a
data analyst is related to the overall work done by Direct Link since the company deals with
large amounts of deliveries data. Therefore, the company needs to collect data on the deliveries
made to different locations globally to understand the behaviors of their clients and determine
which regions make the company the most profits so that they can capitalize on them.
At the end of my internship, I gained new skills and sharpened my analytics skills. One of the
important business skills that I gained is teamwork and effective communication. Working with
large amounts of data often requires that a data analyst works alongside other data analysts and
employees in the organization to ensure that they achieve correct analyzes on the data being
analyzed. Therefore, is solving analytics issues, I learned how to communicate effectively with
other people by approaching them for clarity on issues that I found challenging. I also became an
excellent team player since I was working in teams most of time. Other skills that I gained during
my internship are analytical skills. To study customer behavior, it is crucial to understand how to
handle SQL, Python, and Tableau. Therefore, at the end of my experience, I had mastered how to
use these tools in analyzing large amount of data. I also learned how to choose the correct tool
for different types of data analyses. Inverted pyramid organization
Direct Link boasts a massive workforce since it has many employees and staff that help handle
the daily tasks of the organization. The company has a global and dynamic team that work in
their offices in the United States, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Singapore, China, Sweden,
Germany, and China (Direct Link, 2022). See Appendix 1 for Direct Link’s inverted pyramid
organization. Narrative
Background an specific business of the company
Direct Link is a popular organization which develops borderless-commerce resolutions for
worldwide deliveries and enhances the markets of their clients worldwide. This organization is a
member of the Post Nord Group thus it integrates corporate responsibility with entrepreneurial
flexibility. Since there are no standardized requirements in global deliveries, the organization
does not settle for homogeneous solutions. Direct Link utilizes the large global postal network to
reach their clients’ mailboxes in all regions globally. i.
Global Deliveries
Direct Link helps their clients find the best delivery choices to global markets. The organization
takes care of global deliveries and ensures that the items that their clients have ordered are
delivered to their mailboxes hence making such deliveries convenient and secure for the client
and the company. Their clients get to achieve efficiency and reach of worldwide postal systems
when they utilize Merchandise Mail Plus. Additionally, the organization ensures that customer
communication is customized to their needs and is smooth. The organization also sends confirmation to business people and their customers when the
company receives the item for further processing hence making delivery convenient for any
business person’s customers. Ideally, when the items are very big for a mailbox, the organization
sends them to a service point or local post office for collection. This makes it convenient for
items to be sent throughout and outside Europe. Once the items arrive in the designated
locations, clients are notified through their email informing them that their order is ready to be
dispatched and delivered at their location. This ensures that the clients have a peace of mind and
assured of their delivery and also minimizes the calls that they make to the business person’s
customer service center. Direct Link’s website also provides a ‘Fully Tracked’ feature which allows business person to
gain an end-to-end tracking of their deliveries to the main destinations globally and if demanded,
the delivery confirmation. Items are often signed off by the clients-either at their office, homes,
or service points. With Direct Link’s tracking system, a client and a business person knows
where their items are every time, it is easier for a business and their customers to access this
tracking systems regardless of the delivery options that have been provided. With worldwide shipping. Complications of customs are inevitable. Therefore, surprise
surcharges, value-added tax (VAT), and duty are often existing and issues regarding customs
could delay the arrival of a client’s item. Nonetheless, Direct Link offers good solutions on how
these issues could be overcome. The company finds flexible solutions which are tailored to the
sales strategy and shipment of a business person.
ii.
Nordic Deliveries Direct Link’s services rule in the Nordic countries. It delivers parcels straight and smoothly to
the client’s mailbox or delivers the items to service points near the recipients. This makes it easy
for the customer and the business person. The organization knows Nordic nations better since it
is where the organization is the market leader and also their home turf. Direct Link does up to
2kg deliveries to the mailbox of a client making it easy for them and the businesses that they
purchase items from. There is also a My Pack Home feature which sends products weighing up
to 35kgs with consumer-friendly and flexible deliveries to the doorsteps of the end receivers. My
Pack Home is a door-to-door and straightforward delivery alternative for e-commerce
organizations wishing to reach clients in the rest of Europe and Nordics. For clients that prefer to
collect their items at service points, Direct Link has developed My Pack Collect which facilitates
the deliveries of parcels weighing up to 20 kgs. The company delivers to most areas in Europe
since it has a significantly bigger distribution network which is constantly expanding.
iii.
Warehouse Logistics
Direct Link reaches a business’ clients quickly and gains peace of mind with the delivery
services. This organizations makes it simple for business since when they send their items to
Direct Link, they leave the rest of the delivery services for the organization. Ideally, when clients
place their orders with a business, Direct Link picks, packs, and delivers them directly to clients
in a quicker way. Additionally, a business person’s value added tax (VAT) and customs could be
prepaid, making it easy for each person and eradicates sales challenges for a business person.
The primary focus of Direct Link focuses on personalizing shipments and services and offers
good customer experience for a business’ B2C and B2B clients. The organization aims to be a
business partner to a business rather than being only a supplier. Businesses only need to tell
Direct Link their requirements and the organization will find a good solution for them. Direct Link’s warehousing solution could assist a business in different manners. It takes good
care of global delivers and ensures that items are delivered directly to a client’s mailbox,
guaranteeing that the delivery is convenient and secure for the clients and the business.
Moreover, Direct Link’s warehousing solution allows a business achieve efficiency and reach of
the international postal system when a person uses My Pack or Merchandise Mail Plus. The
organization’s commitment to their customers is to offer good package preparation services. For
instance, the organization’s attention to detail ensures that a business gets loyal customers for
their brand. Direct Link has warehouse spaces in the USA, Europe, and Asia. Besides, utilizing
Direct Link’s Fulfilment service is a good option if someone does not want to handle shipping
and if a business has gown beyond its current warehousing abilities. Depending on a business requirement while outsourcing, Direct Link does everything associated
with deliveries and up to the degree that the business needs. By doing so, a business achieves
better customer satisfaction since deliveries are made faster to local markets. Besides, the VAT
and duties would be prepaid and the business could shift its focus to selling since Direct Link
takes care of the returns and physical handling. It also ensures that a business does not require to
hire their own equipment and employees, leading to fewer fixed costs. This service allows a
business to save on their finances since the start-up costs are lower.
Direct Link’s warehouse services also provide ‘Pack and Pick’ options. Primarily, the company
generates pick lists from the organization’s integrated system. Picks items, and packages them in
ways that are preferable by a business. During this process, Direct Link makes both inbound and
outbound quality checks to reduce returns and claims. This solution is based on the business
needs since it aims to give clients good experiences during the unpacking moment and at the
delivery point. Direct Link’s warehouse logistics also provides delivery services by ensuring that a customer
gets the most convenient and best delivery option and also handles returns. The challenges
business experience at borders are easily addressed by Direct Link since it manages to deliver
products worldwide. A business person’s products are then delivered directly to their client’s
mailboxes, ensuring that delivery is convenient and secure for each party. By using the large
worldwide postal network, a business could achieve both efficiency and reach regardless of
where clients are located internationally. Besides, Direct Link recognizes the importance of
having an excellent returns management policy and this is a major reason why the organization
provides return services in international e-commerce hot spots. The company’s services could be
adopted to match a business’s returns needs for destination, frequency, and speed. This service
also makes it easier for a business to pint their return labels through the organization’s label

updates sent daily. Department in which you performed your internship
As a student studying business analytics, I worked at Direct Link’s data analytics department.
The main responsibilities of this department include responding, questioning, and identifying
data constituencies at the organization. This department also solves problems related to inquiries
from Direct Link stakeholders, supplier clients, distributors, or client services to attain database
integrity. The data analytics team also researches stock keeping units at the supplier and
distributor levels to verify and identify the necessary required segmentation variables. This
department also follows up with distributors by addressing product and client questions or
inquiries. Another main responsibility of the data analytics department is creating extra tools
outside client packages including standard queries, SKU lists, quarterly tables and internal tools.
The last major role of the data analytics department is to apply tools including formulas, sorting,
filtering, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs to achieve data quality and integrity which exceed and
fulfill the organization’s and their clients’ standards. Outline the work that you performed in the Company
Main Duties

v.
Maintained, modified, and updated two web dashboards which displayed the uploaded
information using tables and interactive charts which were coded using several JavaScript
packages including Jquery, crossfilter, and Data-Driven Documents (d3). Several
departments at Direct Link used these dashboards to track the number of deliveries that have
been made, their clients, system utilization, and weekly performance.
vi.
Accommodated many forms of custom requests from clients and departments’ requests
that comprised developing complex and customized SQL queries to achieve accuracy and
precision of the retrieved information.
vii. Organized and generated weekly analytical reports which went to Direct Link’s
departments using Microsoft Excel and SQL. Weekly Reports
My Pack Report
This was the most crucial report that I worked on since it highlights visuals on customer behavior
and provides a summary of deliveries data. This report is crucial because it was analyzed by Direct Link’s top management to gain business insights. The My Pack report was divided into the sections highlighted below. Geographical distribution and growth
This section of the My Pack report contains a summary of the number of deliveries made across
the Nordic nations, Europe, and the rest of the world. It provides a clear indication of the growth
of deliveries made to each nation. Business’ web login activities
This section of the My Pack report tracks the log in activities of different businesses in Direct
Link’s website since the day that they registered in the company. This information is crucial
because it helps recognize which businesses access the organization’s website frequently.
Marketing statistics
This section of the My Pack report highlights the statistics on the number of businesses that gave
Direct Link the permission to receive company advertisements and other marketing promotions.
Notifications and alerts
This section of the My Pack report illustrates the number of crucial alert messages and
notifications generated by Direct Link’s system. For instance, badges, Usage Praise, AHI alert,
and leak alert help identify red flags concerning the experiences of business people and their
clients with the delivery services of the company. Access method
This section of the My Pack report shows the number of electronic devices (mobile phone and
computers) which business people and their clients are using to access Direct Link’s website and
track their deliveries.
Demographics
This section of the My Pack report highlights the age, gender, and race of clients that have been
registered in Direct Link’s systems for statistical reasons. Communication methods
This section of the My Pack report comprises table with the total number of clients that have
registered at Direct link and are using either email or text as a means of communication. It also
shows the total number of each communication method status, that is, ‘confirmed’ or ‘disabled’.
This information helps the top management recognize Direct Link’s clients’ preferred method of
interacting with their systems. Deliveries Report
I generated Direct Link’s delivery report by performing three different SQL queries. Once this process was finished, the information that was retrieved was formatted in Excel sheets. Deliveries reports are primarily utilized to track the organization’s entire deliveries progress by analyzing the number of deliveries that Direct Link has helped different businesses make to different regions within a week. Custom Requests
In my internship at Direct Link, I was assigned thirty requests by my supervisor that was responsible for confirming and revising the outcome before giving them to the necessary individuals. There were two types of custom requests which I handled at my department.
External requests
When the data analytics department received requests from businesses, these requests were mainly for the objective of achieving a summary of the clients that a business has under them. This information helps a business understand and manage the behaviors of their clients according
to the criteria that the business set for its clients. For instance, a business requested information on the total number of alerts sent to their clients in the past month and the total number of deliveries that the company made to Europe within the same month. Internal requests
These requests could be used for exploring new opportunities or examining reported issues. Some of the internal requests that I handled included exploring the main reasons behind businesses opting out from receiving email or text notifications by examining the latest notification that the business received before they opted out.
Web Dashboard
The key reasons of utilizing web dashboards are their capability of delivering updated interactive
content securely and efficiently. During my internship, I was responsible for adding new features, updating, and maintaining two dashboards. Customer success dashboard
This dashboard is used by Direct Link to summarize the organization’s activities and the number of business people accessing their systems. If a business shows a low score, the customer care at Direct Link contacts them to see how they can help them use their services better and improve their deliveries to their clients internationally. I was assigned to update this dashboard using the correct data from SQL servers and loading it to the dashboard website. I also helped implement several updates and changes to the dashboard and this needed me to modify the current SQL queries to accommodate new changes. Additionally, I made the required changes in Direct Link’s
website’s java script and html codes to display new visuals and features. Deliveries account dashboard
This dashboard is used by Direct Link to summarize important customer information including the business name, the number of deliveries that Direct Link has made to a particular business’ clients, and the account manager. My primary responsibility was to ensure that this dashboard stayed updated every week with the current delivery data. This was made possible by retrieving data from SQL databases and loading it to the deliveries account dashboard website. I was also assigned with developing a similar dashboard which enables any user to view Direct Link’s deliveries to certain locations with the capability of switching between the organization’s views and locations. I also helped add functions which enables users to export data tables to Excel sheets for a smoother and more straightforward use. Specific issue in which you worked on
On my first week of the internship, I underwent a basic training on the organization, its services,
and more specifically, the organization’s database structure in which I would retrieve data. The
supervisor assigned to me did an excellent work in explaining and teaching several aspects
associated with the teams, businesses, and systems which I would interact with. Moreover, the
supervisor took more time educating me on the different fields and structures of databases.
During this time, I realized that the organization did not have adequate detailed documentation
associated with the databases. The organization was depending on its tactical knowledge and
nobody was recording this information anywhere. Therefore, every time I wanted information on
a particular issue relating with data analysis, I approached my supervisor for advice and clarity.
Besides, if the supervisor lacked clarity in a particular area, I was referred to the software
development team to obtain the correct information. I recognized that the company lacked
documentation of multifaceted and large databases. Therefore, using my data analysis and business analysis skills, I proposed a workable yet simple
knowledge management solution through the key procedures of mapping knowledge. My
recommended solution comprised non-technical and technical components. Non-technical
components comprise all non-technical and managerial steps while for the technical component,
I resorted to using Lecene-a search library (full-text) embedded in Java that facilitates the
addition of search functionalities in websites or applications. Lecene achieves this by adding
information to full-text indices (Tan, 2022). Moreover, Lecene is crucial in the indexing of
various types of text formats including HTML and text files. Additionally, Lucene allows an
analyst to search every indexed information via a website interface. The main steps to be followed in the solution that I recommended for Direct Link are as follows.

Step One
Recognize the business problem. The problem that I identified at Direct Link during the
beginning of my internship experience is the lack of appropriate documentation of the current
databases. Step Two
Gaining approval from the required top management.
To achieve this, I presented the top management with the advantages that Direct Link would
enjoy by addressing the documentation issue. This is a crucial step when trying to implement
new policies and while attracting some staff from their duties. Step Three
Develop a knowledge management team which researches the existing issue and helps create and
implement the solutions. This team was created by selecting a member from every department
who was impacted by the lack of knowledge documentation issue. Step Four
Problem solving commences. The team that was developed in step three began the problem-
solving process by analyzing current documents and recognizing which information is missing in
the databases.
Step Five
Recognize knowledge experts of Direct Link’s databases.
Step Six
Determination of the best strategy of converting tacit information to explicit information
according to availability of the individual who possesses this knowledge.
Several methods would
be used to collect data, that is, requesting individuals to present any documentations which they
developed and have not shared with anyone on the organization, electronic forms of data
collection, or through personal interviews with Direct Link’s employees. Step Seven
The data that was collected and knowledge documentations would be digitalized and recorded in
a Lecene supported format.
Step Eight
Apply Lucene to recorded and digitalized files to make them searchable by indexing them.
Step Nine
Develop web interfaces for easier access and search of documents through Apache Lucene.
Step Ten
Direct Link’s staff members were asked for feedback on the offered services allows the
management team to enhance knowledge-based systems over time. Importance of Proper Documentation at Direct Link
Developing appropriate documentation for knowledge on data and business analysis was a
insightful experience because I participated in the implementation process by recommending a
workable process of implementing this documentation. Proper documentation is crucial since it
helps minimize information errors in the company, hence improving work accuracy and work
efficiency. Secondly, proper documentation at Direct Link would also help reduce the time used
to train interns and new recruits thus leading to increased productivity. Lastly, correct
documentation at Direct Link is crucial for legal liability. Since Direct Link deals with various
business people and clients and handles different types of delivery documents, appropriate
documentation is crucial when faced with legal problems. Analysis and Evaluation
Main Lessons from the Internship
Lessons on Data Analytics
The first lesson that I learned concerning data analytics is that if any analysis could be performed
by a Pivot table, then it is ideal to use it. Ideally, if the data in the Excel sheets require structural
changes, then it is useless to perform an analysis manually. Stangarone (2014) explains that Pivot
tables are convenient because they are simple, secure and easy to access. Pivot tables also ensure
that data remains intact. Moreover, if data can be analyzed using the Pivot table, then it is
illogical and unnecessary to use R or Python.
Secondly, I learned that a data analysts should ensure that tabular analyses in spreadsheets are
flexible. While using either SQL, R, or Python to perform analyses, a data analyst may need to
import the analysis outcomes to spreadsheets before sharing them with their colleagues.
However, if a data analyst decides to present the analysis results in tabular forms, the analyst
should make structural adjustments. In most cases, an organization’s employees would want to
conduct further analyses or check the data. Nonetheless, if the data on tables had been adjusted
manually by different people, then it would be challenging for other people to work on it. Hence,
the key lesson that I learned in my data analytics internship experience is tabular data should be
flexible by avoiding regular manual structural changes.
Lessons on Writing SQL
First, I leaned that a data analysts should reduce SQL running time but ensure that they do not
over-optimize. The tables that data analysts handle might contain millions of columns and rows
and distinctions in syntaxes could increase the computing time by extra minutes, particularly
when these queries must be run frequently. During my internship, I discovered that a data
analytics could explore two different directions. The first direction which could be explored is
selecting an inefficient table. For instance, while at the internship, I wrote a query which could
be done by selecting one of the main columns-one column contained 200,000 rows and the other
column contained 1 million rows. I selected the 1 million rows column because I assumed that
the codes would be easier since it only required fewer relative tables to filter the data.
Nonetheless, this strategy took six extra minutes. The second direction which a data analyst
could explore is tuning the syntax. Secondly, I learned how to determine whether the SQL query results are correct. When a data
analyst queries inaccurate data, they might make wrong suggestions from the incorrect analysis
hence reducing their credibility in the team. Therefore, the ability to achieve correctness of data
is one of the most crucial roles of a data analyst. Typically, there are different ways of getting
comparable data. Therefore, to check the correctness of data, I used to examine other tables and
previous data to determine whether the query results made sense. Thirdly, I learned the importance of attaching the original SQL codes that I used to query data
while sharing my analysis results with others. This is important because incase a query is
complex, other employees would need to confirm the correctness of the code. Secondly,
attaching the original SQL codes is crucial when the manager or team members wish to perform
further analysis on the work that you have done. The last and most important lesson that I learned about writing SQL is understanding the
database schema. Before writing any SQL code, a data analyst should comprehend the tables that
contain the data that they want, the main keys, and the default forms of data. For instance, if the
data that a data analyst wants to analyze categorical data (often uses abbreviations), they need to
understand the meaning of each abbreviation. Additionally, the most essential thing that a data
analyst should comprehend is the relationship between different tables since it helps them write
excellent SQL codes. The one thing that surprised me the most in my internship experience was
that Direct Link has many tables in their databases (over 100). The intricacy of data schemas is
subjective to products and businesses. Some organizations have over 150 tables while others
have only 20 tables. Hence, I believe that the most crucial thing that data or business analyst
should study at the beginning of their job is the data schema to comprehend that the data is
connected and constituent. Lessons on Presentation and Communication
The first lesson that I learned about presentations is explaining data sources. When presenting
data to an organization’s top management, a data analyst needs to explain the data sources due to
various reasons. To begin with, this helps the management and other employees understand data
schemas and allows them to assess whether the analyses match with the data sources. Secondly,
allows other colleagues to recommend other sources which the data analyst would not think are
crucial for their research. Thirdly, explaining data sources helps the senior colleagues in the
organization determine which data was exempted from the data schema yet they would be
beneficial to the project. The second lesson on data presentation that I learned is comparing figures with industry
standards. It is crucial to attach comparative figures while presenting data since if you fail to do
so, it would be difficult to understand the data. Thirdly, I learned the importance of explaining
the denominators while presenting data in percentage. My supervisor constantly asked what the
denominators meant when presenting data in terms od ratios. Therefore, it is important to explain
the meanings of denominators if the data is in ratio or percentage form. Lessons on Building Dashboards
The main lesson that I learned about dashboard building is drafting and communicating
frequently before creating a dashboard. One of the major responsibilities that I executed during
my internship at Direct Link is making and updating weekly dashboards. The most crucial factor
to consider while building dashboards is communicating frequently with the executive team,
managers, and teammates. At Direct Link, we utilized Metabase to create dashboards (See
Appendix 2). If the final dashboards are not what the company needs, a data analyst might waste
their time writing unnecessary scripts or arranging layouts if they are using Metabase.
Henceforth, the most crucial principle while building dashboards is communicating with the
company’s entire staff and drafting the dashboards before building them. Interaction with other Employees
One of the key skills that I adopted during my internship at Direct Link is open communication
through the help of other employees and interns in the organization. At the beginning of my
internship, I was nervous and intimidated to ask for clarity and questions regarding data analysis
since I did not want to acknowledge that I had little understanding on some analytics areas.
Fortunately, I got over this fear and started asking my supervisor and other colleagues questions
on the areas that I did not understand and this marked the beginning of invaluable learning. I
discovered that other employees and my bosses appreciated when I asked them for clarity on an
issue and they were more than open and friendly to answer and give me clarity. If I did not work
with these helpful and cooperative individuals, I would have remained intimidated and anxious
to ask questions on the areas that I did not understand. This experience allowed me to see the importance of having excellent communication skills and
how they are important in impacting an individual’s working relationship with other employees.
Moreover, since the employees at Direct Link were friendly and warm to interns, I gained people
and interpersonal skills. I learned the importance of creating work relationships with other people

and how to interact with the company’s clients. From the beginning of my internship, I received
understanding and respect since I was treated more like an employee rather than a mere intern. I
was involved in making crucial decisions and implementing important systems in the
organization. Overall performance and quality of work produced During my internship as a data analyst, I helped produce quality work and analyses regarding
client behavior. I helped many of Direct Link’s clients understand the purchasing behaviors of
their clients from the number of deliveries that has been made to their clients worldwide.
Besides, this information helped our clients determine which locations they should ship their
products more to increase their profitability. Another area that I significantly impacted is the
creation of solutions to address the existing problems that were existing in the company. This
solution helped many new employees and interns access these knowledge databases to
understand how to perform some of the key functions of the company. Another area that I greatly impacted was following up with distributors and businesses
concerning product and client questions. For instance, I would determine the trend of a business
deliveries to their clients over a given period and if I identified any reductions in the deliveries,
the information would be used by the customer care team to follow up on the business to
determine what is causing their deliveries to drop. In the same context, we would study client’s
behavior to determine which periods they purchase many items by analyzing data and
determining the highest number of deliveries that have been made to clients during a period like
summer. Such information is crucial in gaining business insights since the top management
would understand and know which seasons, they need to capitalize on delivery services to
increase their profitability. Conclusion
Being part of the workforce in a successful logistics company gave me an optimistic and different perspective on the importance of data analysis is any business. My internship experience at this organization provided me with a transparent understanding of data analysis and
the various tools that companies use to analyze data. Having the ability to employ several technical skills including SQL and web development, alongside the statistical understanding of handling the responsibilities given to me, gave me the confidence that I could be a great asset in the data analytics sector. This internship experience made me more interested in pursuing a career in this field because I enjoyed working with different types of data and as mentioned before, I have become more confident in my analytical skills and abilities. As I go to the outside world, this internship experience was a good start for my professional life. I learned the responsibilities of working hard, dressing professionally, showing up to work on time, and seeking help from my supervisors. Internship helped me reinforce my knowledge of ambition, drive, focus, and responsibility. Practical experience is excellent and internships are good since they give interns the hands-on experience that they require to advance their careers. This internship experience helped me embrace the importance of quality internships in developing the skills that a student cannot get in
school. Such skills include dealing with deadlines, dealing with diversity, communicating with other employees, and multitasking. Besides, the internship gave me the opportunity of networking with other individuals in the data analytics industry. I would advise a student applying for any internship opportunities to select an internship at an organization that they would enjoy working. This is a crucial factor because an internship could be a lengthy process if a person decides to work at an organization that they do not enjoy
working at. Secondly, I would advise them to take time and be intentional about learning key professional issues at the internship that they are in. this could be achieved by setting goals that they want to meet at the end of their internship and ensuring that they meet them. Lastly, I would
advise new interns to stay professional but also interact with their colleagues so that they can learn from them and gain the necessary information that they should have gained during their internship. This will also help them build lasting professional relationships with people that would help the later while seeking employment opportunities.
