Project Breakdown Structure Aaron McKeithen, Mendoza Edward, Pakou Sergio, Tran Christian University of Maryland Global Campus IFSM 438 6381 Information Systems Project Management September 6, 2022
The essence of having a WBS encompassing time duration is providing a breakdown and workload structure on how the bakery will function. As noted, Mamma Mia's Bakery and Sandwich Shoppe is meant to do a better service to consumers and ensure that all the demands of the stakeholders are met. The WBS noted in this Project would encompass durations meant to concur with the project scope of the bakery. The WBS file will also contain all the tasks that are supposed to have a specified timeline. Some of these tasks encompassed in the WBS file include the duties that are supposed to be conducted, which include software development prospects to ensure that the timeframe and the implantation regarding the software development fit the depicted scope. The Project's structure is meant to focus on all the Project's deliverables and ensure a specified timeline is dedicated to accomplishing a specific task. The project breakdown structure will also occur effectively whenever every task is completed. It should be noted that this Project is meant to computerize the operations of a bakery by ensuring all the activities are carried out in a modernized way. There should be a renovation surrounding the information technology system to ensure that the bakery is restructured and competitive with all the IT needs well met.
As dictated in the project charter, the bakery intends to attract more customers by renovating the bakery. There is an empty storefront neighboring the bakery with Mamma Mia, indicating that her enterprise would run effectively if computer programs were incorporated into the business. Instead of focusing on paper in everything she does in the bakery, she should ensure that there is a new IT system that would automate and consolidate the administrative responsibilities of her company. A comprehensive IT system is needed because her enterprise lacks networking equipment. All the operations carried out by the company would be eased and more effective, with this being a better strategy to ensure that organizational objectives are well met. More strategic objectives are also well aligned with the company to ensure that the payment processes are simplified for the suppliers and consumers. These prospects will be noted with initiatives that will ensure issues surrounding the company, such as the over depending on paperwork, is reduced. Comprehensive work is necessary at Mamma Mia's Bakery since she doesn't have computers, a local area network (LAN), or a telecommunications provider. Establishing an Internet connection will therefore be impossible with a significant move to ensure that the bakery machines are installed with the data network. The bakery store will utilize a Software-as-a-Service platform to ensure that all the sections in the company, including communication with suppliers, accounting and payroll, health department, and inventory, are practical. A website will also be created to ensure an appropriate advertising platform and takeout orders for the company. Although this will be the case, there will be several risks associated with this Project, including communication with vendors, system performance, delay in hiring the number of team members, and challenges in using the new tools and software. All these aspects will be accomplished appropriately and appropriately within a dictated scope.

1. Does the Project Schedule include everything in your team's charter and all deliverables? If the WBS has tasks that were not part of the Project Charter, explain how the team determined the additional tasks were necessary. Yes, the Project incorporates all the deliverables and everything in the team's charter. The WBS does not include anything not present in the Project Charter, with the team depicting the essence of following the charter to resort to a productive output in MM's Project. 2. Does the WBS include project management tasks necessary to manage the Project? Yes, the WBS includes management tasks to ensure that every Project is well managed without offering various tasks to the people in the Project. It should be noted that the assignment of tasks is necessary for any project with specific experts in a particular project essential for a successful outcome of the stated Project. These experts include HR, software developers, and IT specialists. 3. Explain the top-down and bottom-up approaches to building a WBS. Which method did the team decide to use, and why did they make that decision A work breakdown structure is a crucial stage in project management, with its central representation noted in a hierarchical structure. A WBS begins with the overall Project
with other sub-tasks following the main Project and then the significant tasks encompassed after the work packages. It should be noted that a WBS is critical in simplifying work and providing a straightforward way of understanding the Project. A WBS further ensures the checkpoints and milestones within the Project are comprehended with the scope, risk, and time factors well estimated in the Project. The Project is also well understood by the customers and stakeholders. The two main approaches to developing a WBS are the top-down and the bottom-up approaches. The bottom-up approach is considered a specified approach that is quickly done to provide problem solutions. Unlike a bottom-up approach, the top-down approach is more logical. It uses more structure with the resolution first identified and then subdivided into smaller tasks meant to make the implementation. My WBS utilized a bottom-up approach since it provides accurate and stable information. This approach is more analytical and specific, unlike a top-down approach that pushes tasks downwards. This approach also ensures a long-lasting result in the business' status quo. 4. Building the WBS as an outline in Word or Excel instead of Project can help team members visualize the order of the tasks and how the tasks might decompose into lower levels. Did the team build an outline outside of Project? If you only used Project, did the team need to rearrange tasks while creating the WBS? The team built an outline outside of Project with Word used to provide a concise outlook and visual regarding the Project. The team members comprehended the best approaches to decomposing the depicted tasks into lower levels. 5. Did the team approach the WBS graphically (like an organization chart), tabularly (like a list or table), or something else? Why?
Tracking the progress of a project is critical, with a WBS supposed to reveal the project schedule and depict limits. Project management is supposed to show the advancement levels noted in projects. In this Project, I used a table or list approach, which can be summarized in tabular form. It was the most straightforward approach to ensuring that all the tasks were well organized. 6. Did the team work together to determine the significant tasks, or was only one team member responsible for that? How well did it work? The group worked together to provide a layout for the tasks that were supposed to be undertaken at MM. Everything worked accordingly, with every group member well involved in coming up and deciding charges.
