Data ethics – how are ethics built into the company's strategy or vision? Do they have a
code of conduct?
The importance of ethical data usage has increased in the data-driven world of today. Companies
are realizing more and more how crucial it is to incorporate information ethics into their
approach and vision. This examination looks at how ethics are incorporated into a company's
strategy, frequently through creating a code of conduct.
Ethical Principles and Values:
Companies that place a high priority on data ethics start by establishing their ethical principles
and structure. In order to make sure that moral values are at the center of their business identity
and mission, they explicitly state their dedication to responsible data processing (
Lewis &
Westlund, 2015).
Code of Conduct:
The development of an extensive code of conduct is a key element of integrating data ethics.
This code specifies expectations and norms for workers with relation to the gathering, storing,
processing, and sharing of data. Additionally, it covers concerns like data security, consent, and
openness.
Designing for Privacy:
Companies utilize "privacy by design" concepts to integrate data ethics into the good and service
development processes. This ensures that security and confidentiality of information are core
components of every service by integrating ethical considerations right into the product
development process.
Data Governance and Compliance:
Organizations create strong data governance frameworks to protect ethical data practices. They
monitor adherence to pertinent data protection laws (such as the GDPR and CCPA) and routinely
audit their data processes to spot and rectify any ethical issues.

Data access restrictions:
To prevent unwanted access to sensitive information, businesses adopt stringent access
restrictions. They impose role-based access, ensuring that only individuals with a valid need have
access to the data, protecting it from any misuse (
Sethi & Schepers, 2014).
Consent and openness:
Getting informed permission for gathering and analyzing information is a top priority for ethical
businesses. They ensure openness in data handling procedures by being open and transparent
with people about how their personal information will be utilized.
