Unit 11 Forum
Find a video of a public speaker that you think is effective and persuasive. (Ted Talks
are a great source.) Analyze the speaker's performance, consider:
What elements of the presentation stood out?
What was strongest: the presentation's content or the presenter's
mannerisms?
Did the presenter use visual aids? Did they support the presenter's content?
Did the speaker engage the audience? If so, how?
How can you apply these exemplars to your own presentation (in this course
and in the future)?
Craft your analysis into a few paragraphs and paste a link to the video and your written
analysis into the Forum post.
Thanks for sharing this!
The speaker gives a great example of how to turn a hard core technical
presentation into an attractive speech.
In my own experience, I have to give multiple presentations to customers
both internal and external, to demonstrate why a specific technical method is
applied, and why there are innovations in the method. It is always hard to
engage the business focused audiences into the presentation, and make
them understand whatt exactly I'm talking about. Graphs, drawings, and
other visualization tools will surely help transfering vague concepts into clear
images. Adding light humors and make the presentation more story-telling
will help keep the audience engaged.
