Explain why buffers are a crucial part of IT project management. Provide a specific example that supports
your ideas and can illustrate negative consequences of not including buffers. In replies to peers, provide additional explanations and examples that have not already been included as part of the discussion.
Hello professor and class,
The reason buffers are crucial to project management is because they add time to the project for unforeseen circumstances that would normally add time to the project finish time. Multiple studies have shown that only 44% of projects using traditional project management methods actually finish on time (M, 2023). A buffer also gives the project manager more time to think and not be overwhelmed or pressured about meeting or failing deadlines and letting people down. A buffer also helps the workers focus more between tasks and get a break before jumping into the next task on the list. With that extra time between tasks the person can get up from their desk and take a walk or even meditate which increases mental focus (M,2023). References
