Unit 11 Forum
Find a video of a public speaker that you think is effective and persuasive. (Ted Talks
are a great source.) Analyze the speaker's performance, consider:
What elements of the presentation stood out?
What was strongest: the presentation's content or the presenter's
mannerisms?
Did the presenter use visual aids? Did they support the presenter's content?
Did the speaker engage the audience? If so, how?
How can you apply these exemplars to your own presentation (in this course
and in the future)?
Craft your analysis into a few paragraphs and paste a link to the video and your written
analysis into the Forum post.
I really enjoy your article. Great video selection for this forum, to start. A
fantastic speaker, Tim Urban is. I appreciate how informal and uncomplicated
he made his presentation. He made it pretty straightforward, in my opinion,
mostly so that everyone could comprehend it. He gave his content a lot of
weight by using the diagrams. Yes, I concur that the presentation was highly
understandable and clear. He began the illustration of the thesis with
outstanding use of charts and a bar graph. His visual aids made it plain to
me that you may be clear and knowledgeable about your subject without
having to put much effort into your presentation. Tim employed these
techniques to great effect. Facts and humor are unquestionably a winning
mix for any public speaker.
A straightforward assertion supported by facts
will suffice. Overall, excellent video selection.
