As you work on this template, keep in mind the related documents, found in “Assignment Information.” IDS 150 Project Guidelines and Rubric IDS 150 Scenario Profiles] Part One: Sustainable Practices [ Note : You will complete this section for the assignment Module Three Project Draft One. Remove this note before you submit your paper.] Describe how environmental systems in use in your chosen scenario impact human behavior. The water quality issues in Flint, Michigan really impacts how people can interact with the earth. The mishandling of the water supply in 2014 caused the drinking water of at least 100,000 Michiganders to be contaminated and then they shifted the responsibility of cleaning up the water to the citizens of Flint. The governing body of Flint was extremely negligent when they rerouted the water through different pipes and this led to the citizens of Flint getting poisoned from the drinking water. They were more concerned with the beautification of the area and repairing things that weren’t as important such as sidewalks and roadways. This lead to mistrust from the people in Flint toward their governing body. Describe the impact of the current resource use on the environment. The resources that are being used in this example are the roads, sidewalks and the drinking water in Flint. This scenario uses examples of how the association turned their monetary focus to things like sidewalks, roads and clearing swear drains instead of where it was really needed, the cities drinking water. When the city officials prioritized other things instead of the water this caused thousands of people to get sick, some even died. Describe how human ideology impacts behavior regarding the environmental systems. There are a lot of different ways human ideology can affect our behavior regarding environmental systems. Some people think that nature is there for us to utilize and take what it has to offer, others think that nature is best left undisturbed. While I believe both are true, there has to be a fine line between using what nature has to give us and leaving it alone. Enjoy nature by going camping but leave no trace that you were there, take your trash with you, don’t pollute the lakes or streams in the area, and don’t feed the wildlife. Explain the role of cultural bias in your chosen group’s approach to global sustainability. The role of cultural bias in my group or any group really can affect anyone's view on global sustainability. Depending on how someone was raised and their culture global sustainability could be viewed as someone else's responsibility or the opposite. When people have the view that their contributions to saving the environment it can have disastrous consequences, because those thoughts are passed down to the next generation and the next after that. In the scenario I chose they had a bias because they focused more on certain aspects over others, the parts that would make the city look better.
