For this homework you will need to read chapter 1 from “Supply Chain Simulation and Optimization with
anyLogistix”
posted in canvas watch the Chapter 1-part 2 (second video) on anyLogistix (ALX) simulation software tool (available in
module 8 and 9 in canvas) and install your own student free version of ALX on your computer and answer the following
discussion questions based on pages 40 to 54 in the textbook
“Sup
ply Chain Simulation and Optimization with
anyLogistix”.
All resources needed for completing the assignment is available on canvas.
Discussion Questions (20 points)
1. Run the GFA model that will identify 3 distribution centers for 10 customers based on the same example in Pg. 39, once
the anyLogistix provides you with the GFA solution, convert that into a simulation model. Follow all the steps as I did for
the two distribution centers and one distribution center in part 2 anyLogistix video and run the simulation analysis and
identify all the KPI’s and its values as provided in the book (please note that the book has KPI names slightly different fro
m
ones in the software, so identify the approximate ones closely represented).
2. Run the same question 1 starting with GFA but assigning 4 Distribution centers instead of two. Now put the two tables
of all KPI’s right next to each other for question 1 and 2. Draw inferences about transportation costs, overall profit and
revenue and other KPI aspects.
Hint: -
use all the KPI’s in the table provided in example provided in table 2, 3 and 4 between pg. 40 and 54 in chapter 1 of
the book for comparison.
