Scenario 37 As you reflect on the simulation experience, please answer the following questions/statements : 1 . Describe the simulation scenario utilizing SBAR. (minimum 50 word response ( S: Susan well, 76 yrs old, female white catholic, right hip fracture, osteoporosis and hypertension B: History of osteoporosis and hypertension. Fell off her neighbor’s front porch this afternoon and experienced subsequent severe hip pain A: stable and progressing well on postpone pathway R: Continue pain medication and breathing exercises, assist with ambulation, labs are back but haven’t been checked , notify doctor if labs are low 2 . What went well during the simulation scenario? (minimum 50 word response ( The blood transfusion, was received and vitals were within normal limit. The patient was educated on things to report if they occur during transfusion such as SOB, chills, itching and/or fever . 3 . Is there anything that could have been improved in the simulation scenario? (minimum 50 word response ( Understanding the proper steps and techniques on caring for apatient could have been improved during the simulation. Maybe understanding the correct process in learning how to properly work with newborns and the steps to take when properly assess. Improving on how to stop second guessing myself with the steps on what to do next in certain situations .
4 . Describe an “Aha” moment you experienced during the simulation and how it will expand your nursing care skills. (minimum 50 word response)I didn’t really experience an Aha moment, but I didn’t know that I would need to report my protocol of infusion to anyone but the doctor however after going thru this scenario I am supposed to record all steps of my intervention and document each finding, and patient response .
