2 Air Cargo Systems vs. Surface Cargo Systems This paper will establish a deeper understanding of air cargo systems as we dive deeper into everything that correlates with the industry. The correlations of the industry will include the aircraft themselves, the terminals, the equipment utilized to move the cargo on/off the aircraft, the staff, and the different regulations. 1). Provide a brief synopsis of the Surface Cargo System you picked. The cargo system that was selected is the railroad transportation industry. The Railroad transportation system is an excellent example of a surface cargo system due to its cost-friendly routes. As it is "running on almost 140,000 route miles, the U.S. freight rail network is widely considered the world's largest, safest, and most cost-efficient freight system" (FRA, 2023). On top of the fact that it is cost-friendly, railway transportation is used to decrease the cost of the transport industry. This approach enables an organization to provide extensive support to its operations. Supporting the operations of the railroad industry increases its adaptability to delivering excellent value for money. This type of system is known for carrying hefty loads across elongated distances cost-effectively. This cargo system enables organizations to lower the overall cost of Logistics systems and increase their adaptability by reaching vast land and carrier reach. 2). Compare the Air Cargo System components to your Surface Cargo System components. Regarding air cargo systems, they hold the availability to transport goods Overseas, which is an excellent benefit over the railroad transport system. For example, the Delhi transport system is a prime example of how surface cargo systems can provide "an extensive load-carrying capacity" (Delhi, 2023). In contrast, air cargo systems have limited availability of carrying load.
3 On the other hand, the railroad transportation system depends on the level of rain on roads. However, air cargo systems usually work internationally, which is valuable in having extensive reach over distinct regions. The overall cost of operation for the air cargo system is relatively huge compared to the railroad systems, which includes more nominal carrying costs than the railway Transportation system. 3). Describe in detail similar components and different components. Regarding the two types of transportation, it can be narrowed down to the fact that e- commerce businesses utilize both systems to acquire and send their supplies off into the markets. Both systems are highly efficient as they carry a massive load across extensive distances and reduce the overall burden on the organization by providing adequate service support. 4). Consider the management concerns of incorporating intermodal operations between the two systems. Regarding the management concerns of including intermodal operations between the two systems, we can determine that intermodal operations are consistent with the railroad system. To better understand the point and concerns associated with this topic, we must understand that intermodal is "The movements of passengers or freight from an origin to a destination relying on a sequence of transportation modes. Each carrier issues a ticket (passengers) or contract (freight). Transfers from one mode of transport to another commonly occur at a specifically designed terminal." (Rodrigue & Slack, 2023). However, as the containers used in transportation regarding airline industry art design for aircraft, the possibility of intermodal transportation could be much higher. This intermodal transportation capability instantly boosts the adaptability of railroad
