Krystal Davis, IT Project Manager 1994 Pioneer St. Fredericksburg, TX, 78624 979-909-1301 K_davis@gmail.com November 1, 2023 To Whom It May Concern: I'm composing this letter to inform the University Healthcare System with details regarding a Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) Project. The Chief information Officer has enlisted my department to oversee the implementation of the CPOE project and that it runs smoothly. This system enables physicians and clinic staff to electrically input labs, pharmacy and radiology orders, and by doing this will limit the opportunity for errors. The overall goal of the hospital is to cater to the needs of clinical performance in administrative leadership. Our collaboration NHIT aims to create a comprehensive plan to evaluate the effectiveness of the integrated CPOE applications. Both these groups have shown a clear interest in the electronic health records. Given that 55% of the systems patient records are already in electronic format, I strongly believe it would be in our best interest to transition the remaining 45%, from paper form, to Electronic Health Records (EHR). The leadership team at the University Healthcare System has chosen to take a more deliberate, and appropriate roll to prevent potential failures by adapting a phased in strategy. The primary objective is to enhance patient safety, limit risk factors, heighten efficiency, improve patient satisfaction, and reduce the potential risk for errors. Achieving these goals focuses on the precision and productivity during the implantation of the EHR system. Putting together a successful comprehensive plan and a successful team should be assembled including the following: chief physicians, nursing director, senior nursing staff, radiologist, pharmacist, and hospital administrators, forming an EHR implementation plan board. In order to align with the University Healthcare System Board’s objectives, I propose the establishment of regular reviews and assessments for the systems. This hopes to ensure well defined areas on return of investments and to verify the smooth transition of all systems. Periodic checks will be conducted for system errors and updates. Furthermore, we will incorporate ongoing enhancement and security systems to safeguard the hospital. All members of the Electronic Health Record Implantation planning board will be actively engaged in these processes. They will have comprehensive insights into the implantation and will be thoroughly educated on the subject matter, enabling them to provide support within their departments. The last thing we will host training across all the hospital departments and offices. Thank you for involving our department for this project. The CPOE has made significant progress, with over 55% completion within the Health Care System.
