1.
Identify a problem-solving technique or method you have used in a previous situation and explain how it helped
you. How might problem-solving ways be different in diverse cultures or fields of work?
How can effective
problem-solving help you in your academic journey?
Getting another person’s perspective is one technique I often use at work, school, and life
situations. I currently work in the grievance department for my job. The grievance department
requires me to use problem-solving skills every day. Sometimes, we encounter complex
complaints that require much investigation. When I get a complex complaint, I contact my co-
workers and discuss the research. Having that second set of eyes and another mind can help
solves the complaint, and we can resolve and close it. Different cultures have distinct approaches
to problem-solving, which can be affected by factors such as social norms, values, and historical
and political contexts. They may prioritize different values, beliefs, and communication styles,
which can influence their methods. In some cultures, men are regarded as dominant and the
decision-makers.
2.
Identify your learning style and explain how knowing/learning about your learning style helped support your
success throughout this course.
My learning style is visual, auditory, and tactile. Understanding my learning style will give me the
necessary resources to find techniques that will lead me to understand better and complete my
work. I work from home, so much of my learning is watching and listening on a computer screen
and then doing.
3.
Identify which of the five successful habits of an SNHU student have been most helpful for you throughout
this course. Explain how those habits have helped you.
Strive to submit all assignments- some credit is better than no credit.
a.
I was able to submit all assignments on time this term.
Log in early- See the weekly plan on Monday or Tuesday.
b.
Mondays after work, I would view both classes and map out what needs to happen on which days. I
dedicated Monday and Tuesday to research and viewing the module and resources.
Engage often by responding to discussions, emailing your teacher, and writing down ideas.
c.
I responded to at least two discussions every week. The discussions enabled me to see other points of view
and other ideas to implement in my work. I emailed my humanities teacher a few times to clarify
assignments, allowing me to get A’s on my assignments.
Use the rubric- the rubric is a checklist for success.
4.
Explain how you will stay on track in your courses and overcome interruptions that may impact your
schedule.
I will stay on track by planning my day, week, and monthly calendar. My office is quiet, and all
distractions have been removed, allowing for better focus. However, I added a sound machine
and a comfortable chair with books to remove myself for a break to refresh my mind. My
Husband continues to help with the kids and other activities.
5.
Choose two SNHU resources (departments and resources that are part of SNHU) and two social supports
(people, places, and things outside of SNHU) that will help the most with achieving your mission and goals,
and that will help you prioritize your time. Also, indicate why these resources and social supports are key for
your success.
The Shapiro Library
The Shapiro Library has helped me with how to cite my assignments. The many articles and
books will help me save time being in the exact location versus having to scour multiple searches
and trips to the local library.
Assignment Feedback
The assignment review is the most I will use in the future. I submit my paper and get feedback
within 12 hours, which can help me. I do my schoolwork after working at my job. This feedback
can come in sooner than your professor can get back to you, which is up to 48 hours.
My Husband is a social support.
My Husband is a tremendous social support for me. He helps maintain the household while I do
schoolwork to limit interruptions and offers fantastic guidance.
My Sister is a social support.
My Sister supports me because she is enrolled in SNHU and is working on the same degree as
me. We meet once a week as a study group to go over and help figure out and guide each other
in our classes.
6.
List your personal academic mission statement.
In my academic mission, I aim to complete an associate degree in business administration by September 2025. I plan to
use the knowledge gained to improve my position in my current job. My career path chosen in my workplace is to
become an ISM (Innovative Success Manager). The ISM delivers long-term stability, provides day-to-day interactions,
shares performance results, drives program enhancements, and ensures basic account set-up within the company
platform. We work with internal and external shareholders to ensure client expectations are exceeded. By obtaining my
degree, I will give myself the advantage to reach the long-term goal of the ISM position I want. It also shows academic
success to my children to encourage further education for them to reach their career goals.
7.
List your THREE short-term academic goals.
Goal #1: A designated study space
How/Why? I work from home and have an office. I am working to turn my office into a study space
for schoolwork. I am saving money to purchase an L-shaped desk with a work area on one side and a
school area on the other. The more oversized desk in my office will enable me to avoid doing my
schoolwork in my living room with the family and electronic distractions.
Goal #2: Submitting my work before the deadlines.
How/Why? I will set aside 2 to 3 hours daily to study, research, and work on schoolwork to meet
deadlines. Prioritizing my day after work and during the weekends will help me have the time to get
my work turned in on time. I will succeed and maintain good grades in my classes by submitting my
work on time.

8.
Describe the importance of setting goals on your academic journey.
Goals help students keep focused and motivated to navigate the challenges they will face throughout
their enrollment. Goals help improve study habits, achieve a specific grade, stay organized, and
provide focus and direction.
9.
Explain how you are going to stay motivated to achieve your goals and mission statement, based on what you
have learned in SNHU 107.
My mission statement and short-term goals are a way to measure my progress and provide the
direction needed to obtain my destination goal. The short-term goal gives me something to look
forward to. For example, working hard to get an A on an assignment leads to getting an A in the
class, which is one step closer to graduation.
10.
Explain why an awareness of diversity is beneficial to giving and receiving feedback when collaborating with
others.
Awareness enhances understanding of diversity and can lead to effective communication. Giving and
receiving communication can vary across numerous cultures and backgrounds, leading to respect
and consideration of cultural differences. Collaboration among different backgrounds can foster a
more inclusive environment, promoting collaboration among members of other backgrounds.
11.
Explain why it is important to take ownership, be vulnerable, ask for help, and have an open mind to achieve
your goals.
Vulnerability can help one succeed because to be vulnerable is to have courage. Having courage is a
necessity to ask for help when needed. Whether it is a teacher, spouse, sibling, friend, or even
having sessions with a tutor, people feel ashamed if they need help, but they can succeed with
courage. Our past failures help us learn, and having an open mind helps us be receptive to new ideas
to make better decisions toward success. Vulnerability demonstrates strength of character. By
allowing ourselves to open ourselves up and leave our comfort zones, we can view any issues or
problems differently, leading the path to solving them.
12.
Explain what your biggest takeaway was from this course.
I learned so much in this class. I discovered my learning style, which is auditory/tactile/kinesthetic.
This knowledge enabled me to approach my boss about my learning technique, and when they
taught me a new project, I could perform the task very quickly. Most of all, I learned that taking
responsibility for your academic success is essential. We should take the time to do work without
distractions, ask for help, and reach out to the resources SNHU provides.
