Discover the relationship between specialized software utilized in HIM and the process of
quality and performance improvement (BL3)
Tasks
: Visit the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC, and research the
topic, “Healthy People 2030” for an understanding of this initiative established by the federal
government, including when it started and the purpose for this initiative.
Review objectives of the
program, methods used for data collection, topics covered under this program, and the current
status of the program. Read the chapter from the Sayles text, Secondary Data Sources, and
review Figure 7.2, “Functional Standards 2013 to 2018 for Healthy People 2020”, on this initiative.
From this figure, identify the standard(s) that comply with the accuracy and integrity of proper data
collection and system(s) used by healthcare organizations to comply with standards established by
the program (EHRs, Registries, etc.).
After completing your research, use Microsoft word to report your findings in essay format. Your
essay must include:
1)
an overview of the initiative, Healthy People, including reasons why this was launched
by the federal government and goals of the project from its inception to its current state
with any distinctions between the 2020 initiative compared with the latest version, 2030.

maintenance.
