Design Cluster Must be based on the Certificate I qualification for a catering assistant. Guidance: Look for a suitable entry-level qualification in training.gov.au for the catering assistant learning program you will develop. The entry level qualification must be related to the Hospitality industry. Consider the specific units of competencies specified in the scenario. Must comply with Man Power Training Services Quality Assurance Policies. Some parts of the training should take place in restaurant or kitchen setting. A practical activity must be included. Must comply with BJI’s Workplace Health and Safety Policy. (This document is in the ‘ TNA Supplementary Documents ’ folder for Project 1). Task 1 – Determine Work Role LLN requirements of the Training To complete the ‘Tasks’ outlined in this project you will need to access the ‘ Project 1 Template - Design’ file found in the ‘Project 1 – Design’ folder ’. This document contains all the forms and templates you will need to complete this Project. Using the ‘ Catering Job Description’ document located in the ‘Supplementary Documents’ folder and the ‘ Work Role LLN Evaluation Form‘ located in the ‘ Project 1 Template ’ file, determine the Work Role LLN levels required for the catering assistant role. Step 1 - Review the Job Role Description Refer to the Catering Job Description (located in the ‘Supplementary Documents’ folder) and identify the core skills that are required to conduct each of the work role tasks listed. This may include any/or a combination of Learning, Reading, Writing, Oral Communication and Numeracy. Step 2 - Determine the Core Skill Levels of the Work Role Match the complexity of each of these job tasks to the most appropriate core skill level in the ‘ Work Role LLN Evaluation Form.’ Use the examples in the Work Role LLN Evaluation Form’ to assist you in identifying the most appropriate level of complexity for each work role task Note: Remember that the examples in the form do not have to match the ‘Catering Assistant’ work tasks exactly. They are just generic examples for you to use as a guide in determining the appropriate core skill levels. In the example table below, the work role task (Identified in Red) requires the employee to use ‘Oral Communication skills’ to complete the task. Therefore, this task has been matched against the examples provided in the ‘Oral Communication’ section of the ‘Work Role LLN Evaluation Form’. The level of complexity required to complete this particular work task has been best matched to the examples identified in the ‘ACSF Level 2’ section of the table Project 1 Instructions V2.0 22/02/2021 4
Design Cluster Step 3 - Determine the Overall Core Skill Levels of the Work Role Once you have matched the work role tasks to their appropriate ACSF core skill levels, populate the ‘Work Role LLN Requirements’ section of the ‘Work Role LLN Evaluation Form’ with the highest level identified for each core skill area. This will determine the overall ACSF Core Skill levels needed for an employee to competently perform in the work role. The example below has been populated with the core skills levels identified and the workplace support level has been identified from the job role description. Task 2 – Draft Training Needs Analysis Step 1 – Access the TNA Template Access the ‘Training Needs Analysis’ document in the ‘ Project 1 Template-Design ’ file. Project 1 Instructions V2.0 22/02/2021 5
Design Cluster Step 2 - Identify Appropriate Qualification Identify and source the training package and the qualification that will satisfy your client’s needs. Step 3 - Unpack the Qualification Read and interpret the qualification packaging rules to determine and review the following- Licensing requirements. Entry requirements applicable to the training. Suitable electives that meet your client’s needs and job roles. Interpret the qualification in relation to assessment requirements. Select a suitable set of units for the qualification to include in the Training Needs Analysis. Read, analyse, and interpret the units of competency to determine if they meet the client’s needs. Step 4 - Confirm Details with the Client For this step you are required to hold a session confirming the details outlined in the TNA draft with the client (your trainer). During this session you are required to - Advise the client of the training package and qualification selected to meet their training needs. Advise the client of the elective units you chose and provide your reasons for selecting them. Discuss delivery and assessment strategies and outcomes of training. Confirm location and duration of the training. Discuss the characteristics and needs of the learner group. Your client (trainer) will complete the ‘ TNA Participant Feedback Form’ and will provide you with this document at the end of this project. After completing the task, you must sign the ‘Document Created By’ field as a trainer/assessor from MPTS, while your client (trainer) will sign the ‘Approved By’ field as a representative of Best Jobs Incorporated. Note – this document must be scanned and included in your Project 1 folder. Task 3 – Sourcing LLN Specialists This task requires you to go to Task 3 of the Project 1 Template and complete the tasks related to LLN support. Follow the instructions provided in the document. Step 1 – Identify LLN Specialists Access the Sourcing LLN Specialists document from the Project 1 Template – Design file . Project 1 Instructions V2.0 22/02/2021 6

Design Cluster In Part 1 of the document, list the details of two (2) LLN specialists that you could contact to seek advice about LLN support options for your learners. Guidance: You must identify real LLN specialists from real organisations. You do not have to contact them. Step 2 – Seek LLN Support Advice In Part 2 of the document, draft an email to both LLN specialists requesting training and assessment ideas that can help support the LLN needs of your learner group. Note: You do not need to send an actual email to the specialists you identified . Step 3 – Consider LLN Advice In Part 3 of the document, you receive a simulated reply from the LLN specialists providing support advice as requested. Read the responses and consider how you will use the advice provided as you complete Part 4 . Task 4 – Design and Develop Learning Program 1 Task 4 requires you to develop a Learning Program for group-based delivery that meets the needs of the client and learner group described in the scenario. The learning program will address the requirements of the unit of competency BSBTWK201 Work effectively with others . The learning program that you design must be for delivery over two (2) days. Note: The Learning Program must be comprehensive enough to allow your assessor to see your ability to ‘chunk’ program content and sequence these ‘chunks’ to ensure a safe, effective learning progression. For this Task you will be required to access ‘Task 4’ located in the ‘Project 1 Template’ file. Step 1 – Access Documents Access the Learning Program Plan in the Project 1 Template – Design file and a copy of the Unit of Competency . Step 2 - Investigate the Unit of Competency Read over the unit of competency and the assessment requirements to get a good understanding of the delivery and assessment requirements to include in your learning program. Step 3 – Design the Learning Program Complete the ‘Learning Program Plan’ by bringing together the information you have identified from the unit of competency as well as drawing on information about the learner group and organisational policy and procedures as outlined in the Scenario . On completion of the learning program, you will be required to sign the completed document as well as have it signed by the supervisor ( Your trainer will play the role of your supervisor ). Project 1 Instructions V2.0 22/02/2021 7
Design Cluster Step 4 – Learning Program Schedule You are required to break the unit content (Elements and Performance Criteria) into manageable ‘chunks’ and sequence them in a logical and progressive order for delivery. This will help achieve the best possible learning outcomes for the learner group. To document this, complete the ‘Learning Program Schedule’ which can be found at ‘Task 4’ in the ‘Project 1 Template’ file. Once you have identified the structure of delivery, you will also be required to document the following to support the learning – Session number and duration Session name Content Summary/Learning Outcome e.g. What will be achieved in each session Delivery Methods e.g. Trainer led discussion, Hands on activities, Role play. Learning resources required e.g. Handouts, Learner guides. Equipment e.g. Whiteboard, Projector, Computers. Assessment Methods and Tools e.g. Questioning, Project, Assessment Workbook Step 5 – Session Competency Map To ensure that all unit requirements are addressed by the Learning Program Schedule, complete the ‘Session Competency Map’ in ‘Task 4’ of the ‘Project 1 Template’ file. Check the box or boxes below each session number that correspond with the ‘Performance Criteria’ that is covered in each session. An example (from a different Program Schedule) is illustrated below: Step 6 – Select Learning Resources Project 1 Instructions V2.0 22/02/2021 8
Design Cluster Source and review the two (2) available learning resources from the ‘Learning Resources’ folder or you can choose your own from any of the following: your workplace online from industry experts, and so on. These learning resources must be relevant to the learning program you are developing and may include such things such as Power Point Slides and Handouts. Your two (2) original resources must be included with your submission at the end of the project. Access the ‘Resource Register’ in the Project 1 Template – Design file and follow the instructions to complete Part 1 and Part 2. Step 7 – Customise Learning Resources In this step you will be required to customise the learning resources you selected to meet the LLN needs of your Learning Program participants. You must customise these resources based on the advice you received in the simulated responses from the LLN specialists. • Follow the instructions in Part 3 of the ‘Resource Register’ to complete this task. • Save copies of your 2 resources as ‘Version 2’ and customise these copies according the LLN Specialist advice. Note: You are required to submit copies of the original resources and the customized resources at the end of this project . Save both your original and customised learning resources using the following file names: Original Resource Name Customised Resource Name 1 Learning Resource 1 Learning Resource 1 V2 2 Learning Resource 2 Learning Resource 2 V2 Task 5 – Seek Feedback for Learning Program This Task requires you to review the complete program with key stakeholders to find areas for improvement and make the adjustments as required. To ensure successful completion of this project, follow the steps below. Your trainer will play the role of the client and complete an evaluation form. Once this is completed, scan the document and include it in your Project 1 folder. Step 1 – Brief the Client Your client must be briefed about the details of the completed learning program.
