1 Supply Chain Management (SCM) System Rafia Nadeem University of Phoenix Online CMGT 556: Enterprise Models Dr. Manuel Torres September 12, 2023
2 Introduction The ABC Company is looking to see different Supply Chain Management Systems. They have required our assistance from Anakin’s Consultation we specialize in Supply Chain Management solutions for all types of companies. ABC Company is currently a small start-up company that employs 500 people. In their environment they have no Supply Chain Management System (SCM) implemented. Our goal is to help them choose the best SCM solution that will best fit their needs and requirements. We have researched the top SCM solutions and picked the four best ones which we will look further into. Summary After carefully researching and looking at the four different SCM solutions we recommend that ABC Company go with Epicor this is a solution that can provide all the necessary Supply Chain Management modules and comes in a more reasonable price range compared to the other SCM solutions. With this being a start-up company, we want to make sure that cost is the top priority we need a product that will have many features but come at a lower price to achieve success. With this being ABC's first SCM solution we want to make sure that they can see all the things a SCM system can give to the company to improve their operations. A High-Level Overview of the Supply Chain Supply chain management is the handling of the entire production flow of a good or service — starting from the raw components to delivering the final product to the consumer.” ( What Is Supply Chain Management? | IBM , n.d.) A traditional SCM system is broken down into five components which are Planning, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Delivery and Logistics, and
3 Returning. All these components are very important and make for a successful business. We have broken down the components in more detail so you can get a better understanding. Why Each Step is important to the Organization? In Column I, we have nine in-depth sections that dive deeper to ensure that we are choosing the correct solution and if the company we are choosing is offering that component or not. When we compared SAP, Oracle, Epicor, and Infor they successfully offered all the modules in the SCM system except for Infor we were not able to locate any information if they offered import/export management. How will the Supply Chain Help the Company Succeed and Correct Operational Issues? We hope that Epicor can help solve the operational issues the company is experiencing. Each module in Supply Chain Management should help increase efficiency and productivity within the ABC Company. In the Demand Planning Module, you will be able to deliver the electronics you need to make better stocking decisions with integrated demand forecasting. (Epicor Supply Chain Management, n.d.) The Inventory Management Module will assist in key functions necessary to update and maintain raw materials, WIP, and finished goods. Inventory quantities and costs. (Epicor Supply Chain Management, n.d.) In the Supplier Management Module, Epicor provides tools for buyers, procurement staff, and purchasing agents, or those providing quotes, to request quotes for raw materials or subcontract services from one or multiple suppliers. (Epicor Supply Chain Management, n.d.) The Shipping Management Module will provide a central application to monitor incoming and outgoing items, whether they are shipments against an order, subcontract parts being sent to

4 a supplier, raw material being received from a purchase order to a job or into inventory or filling an order from stock. (Epicor Supply Chain Management, n.d.) Lastly, the Warehouse Management Module, leverages Epicor, mobile ID data collection, and wireless communications to seamlessly link your warehouse with your order processing and manufacturing operations to optimize your pick, pack, ship, and receiving processes. ( (Epicor Supply Chain Management, n.d.) There are many more modules that Epicor provides but looking at the issues in ABC Company modules we feel needed to be highlighted to show the importance of having a Supply Chain Management System if implemented. 6 We hope that this in-depth dive into all the different Supply Chain Management (SCM) Systems can help us better understand why having this system is important. Every business has raw materials that need to be transferred into working goods or services. Within the ABC Company that good is electronics. With so many electronic companies in the industry, we need to have a SCM system that will take the raw materials and create, manufacture, and ship these electronics in the most efficient and fastest way to the customer. With a SCM, we will be able to plan, track, build, process, and deliver. Epicor offers so many features and tools that are beneficial to the business and the best feature is the cost of Epicor compared to the other companies they are more on the costly side and Epicor distributes their solution based on the tiers and features you need so it’s very customizable to your needs.
