Leon Cleveland IT-200 Module Eight 8-2 Professor Reiner 4-18-2023 Lost Pines Outfitters is a small company that focuses on reasonably priced outdoor gear. They have more than a few bricks and mortar stores you can visit, they also offer quick and simple access of the online store and the reasonably priced products, the company does have potential for improvement. The main parts of their system are listed below. Explanation: The Department of fulfillment assigns tracking numbers and bundles orders for shipping. Online Portals is where customers can shop and order from their own laptop or phone via the internet. A retail store is where the customers can shop in person. A warehouse is where LPO stores the products and where the associate gathers the items from. A warehouse associate is the person who views the items on the computer and uses the inventory tracking system to find out where it is located. After updating the items from the inventory, the associate sends the order to the fulfillment center. The
warehouse computer reviews the order made by customers through the online portal to update and or modify the inventory. Details: LPO's online ordering process is simple and straightforward. When a customer places an order, the procedure begins with the warehouse computer examining and processing the order. The worker then uses LPO's inventory tracking system to find the item the customer ordered. Once it's been found, the order is given a tracking number and sent from the warehouse to the fulfillment department where a worker packages and ships it. The employee also updates the shipment's status to "sent" after that's finished. After the customer receives their package, they're told how wonderful their day was by an LPO associate and are asked to post a review. For consumer purchases, the retail approach is likewise exceedingly simple and uncomplicated. The client enters Lost Pine Outfitters' physical location. The consumer scans the area before making a purchase. If so, the customer brings the item(s) to the register. An employee of LPO removes the hangers and folds the clothes or items the customer just purchased and bags them up then asks how they are paying today, all with a smile. A receipt is then given as the employee says have a great day. The feedback loop is when the customer puts the order and closes when the items are delivered. The other loop is when the associate updates the tracking system after the items purchased are sent out.
Suggestion: Differences between LPO's inventory database and the inventory management system in their retail store are the first problem the CEO runs into. Regarding this matter, I would advise ensuring that any technology connected to the inventory is routinely updated following the sales. The sales team must ensure that every item leaving the store is recorded and quickly added to the inventory database. The company appears to be experiencing communication problems as well. A more efficient and consistent information flow is required between management, the warehouse, and the front-line employees. The existence of just one computer in the warehouse is the second problem. There will undoubtedly be delays and outages when there is only one functional computer. To eliminate downtime, the first order of business is to purchase a second or even third computer system for the warehouse. The CEO may recognize differences caused by a lack of computer systems. Due to system unavailability, employees might not be able to update or amend data in the inventory tracking system, resulting in a disparity between the real physical inventory and what is shown in the system. Systems thinking is an effective way to visualize the steps taken in any given system. It allows you to see into the future to either see where things are going wrong, or something that needs to be changed. It offers you the

chance to observe the causes and effects of any circumstance and demonstrates in real time how a tiny modification can successfully operate or fail a complete system. You can imagine fixing an existing system or developing a whole new one thanks to system thinking. If done correctly, it enables you to understand and find out where you can optimize and where you have problems. Conclusion: Thinking in terms of systems is a useful technique for visualizing the phases in any system. You may picture where things need to be changed or where they might go wrong by looking into the future. You can see a system's causes and effects by using system thinking. It can also demonstrate how even a minor modification can completely alter a system. You could develop something new, potentially alter something that need repair, or make minor fixes thanks to system thinking. Imagine how things should operate rather than whatever problems the system may be experiencing, and then make improvements that are straightforward and easy to implement.
