Module 7 Assignment 14
Twelve Hospital Handoff Projects
1). The level of attention given to the handoff from a project team to ongoing staff can vary depending on the organization, the nature of the project, and its importance. In some organizations, particularly those operating in high-stakes environments like healthcare, where the
consequences of a poorly executed handoff can be significant, a considerable amount of attention
is typically devoted to this process. This may involve extensive planning, coordination, and resources to ensure that the transition is smooth, and that ongoing staff are adequately prepared to take over the project deliverables. But in other organizations or for projects deemed less critical, the handoff process may receive less attention, leading to potential gaps in knowledge transfer, training, or support for ongoing staff.
2). The transition from the project team to the ongoing staff at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital can be classified as a closure by integration. In this case, the project involved setting up new processes, training staff, and implementing various information systems to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital. The focus was on integrating the project deliverables, such as the patient registration kiosks and the training of 700 new hires, into the day-to-day operations of the
hospital.

1). As a consultant in this scenario, my recommendation to Mr. Bretting would be to carefully consider the implications of integrating a "me-too" product phase into the project plan. While incorporating a "me-too" product may provide valuable experience and potentially mitigate some
of the risks associated with introducing an entirely new and innovative consumer product, it could also divert resources and attention away from the primary goal of developing a groundbreaking product that establishes IMSCO's reputation in the consumer market. I would recommend having a detailed discussion with Mr. Bretting to thoroughly assess the potential benefits and drawbacks of pursuing this approach. We would need to consider factors such as the
feasibility of managing multiple product development tracks simultaneously, the impact on the project timeline and budget. I would continue the relationship with Mr. Bretting if he is open to input and willing to work together to find the best path forward for the project, continuing the relationship could be beneficial.
