HIS 100 Module Two Activity Template: Primary and Secondary Sources
Replace the bracketed text below with your responses.
Non-graded portion
:
•
List your historical research topic here:
•
Stonewall Rebellion (1969)
Graded portion:
Distinguish between primary and secondary sources.
•
Primary sources are sources of information on a topic that are firsthand accounts and
related by direct time or involvement, while secondary are accounts based on the
primary sources.
Explain why it is important to consult a variety of sources when conducting historical research.
Include specific details and examples.
•
Using multiple sources is a great way to get a full view of the event from varying
perspectives. Every author is going to have certain biases and opinions that may or may
not show through in the writing they provide, both primary and secondary. Using a mix
of firsthand accounts and later analyzations can also provide a more broad view into the
historical event youre studying.
Identify one
primary
source that would help investigate your research question (include the title,
author, and link to the source).

There is a bill currently being pushed in florida to take transgender minors away from
their families. Alongside 19 other anti-LGBT bills all pushed on the SAME DAY. Rob
Desantis and the Florida government attempt daily to push the progress back to the
Stonewall rebellion, and back into the ages of criminalizing homosexuality because of
fear and insecurity on their own behalf.
