Compare the narratives presented in your primary and secondary sources relevant to your
historical event.
All the narratives that I have listed are different from each other. Town of them are from public
figures from the time of the event. To start, I will look at the narratives that were written by
those figures during the time surrounding the creation of Earth Day. The other two narratives are
about the disaster that led up to the creation of Earth Day.
Describe one narrative that has significantly influenced the contemporary understanding of your
historical event.
The sources that I have provided have helped me better understand why Earth Day was created.
The source that stood out to me and helped me better understand what happened during that
time was “Earth Day ’70: What It Meant” because it was written by Gaylord Nelson himself and
why he wanted to create Earth Day and save the environment.
Explain how the chosen narrative helps you better understand your historical research question.
Please provide your revised research question and then explain how the chosen narrative helps
you better understand your historical event.
The narrative that I chose helps me better understand what happened prior to the event, during
and after. It helps me understand why Earth Day was created and it was so important to Gaylord
Nelson to create such an important day.
How did environment issues lead to the creation of Earth Day?
