HIS 100 Module Three Activity: Revising Questions - Thelma Robinson Replace the bracketed text below with your responses. Identify the topic you chose to explore: Stonewall Riots Identify a historical perspective that could be applied to your historical event. One historical viewpoint from my historical event might be that of those who opposed the LGBTQ community. This can present an unfavorable image of the Stonewall Riots. This might be attributed to the community's lack of acceptance in the 1960s and the general public's belief that this community should not have the same rights as themselves. Searching for newspaper stories from the time of the Stonewall riots is what I'm doing. One supporting the riots and one opposing the same historical event would be fantastic to witness. Seeing that would be fascinating. Revise your research question based on evidence from your primary and secondary sources. Has the relationship with law enforcement changed since the riots in comparison to current-day LGBTQIA2S+ society? How did the Stonewall Riots influence the need for equality for the LGBTQIA community? Explain how historical perspective and evidence from sources influenced your finalized research question. My study question was modified in response to my professor's comments, which focused on reducing the scope of the historical injustices the community experienced. According to my study, the Stonewall riots were one of the biggest turning points for the LGBTQIA community, but they were also merely the starting point for many more conflicts and struggles to come. To be honest, historical viewpoints and source evidence played a major role in the Stonewall riots. Two extremely different 1960s viewpoints on the LGBTQ community exist. Either they supported it, or they opposed it. Many people in the modern world either don't seem to care or are the community's silent supporters. 1
