Name: Emmanuella Umoh SPICE Chart Civilization: Dates:October 16,2023 Social Lifestyles, Gender Roles, Family, Social/economic classes, inequalities - There were two social class: elites and commoners -The Mongols originated -> nomadic people - The men were normally away from their herds on hunting expedition/ military campaigns - Women sometimes fought alongside men in wars - The women were mainly responsible for tending to the animals Political Leaders & Elites, Political Structures, Empires, Nations & Nationalism, Revolts & Revolution, Regional/Global Structures -Relied on equestrian skills and were among the most mobile forces of the premodern world - Elites could return to the status of commoners - Leaders passed status along to their heirs, but the heirs could lose their status if they did not continue to provide necessary leadership for their clans/tribes - Conquested Northern China, Persia andSouthern China - Chinggis Khan forged the various Mongol tribes - Temujin was the unifier of the Mongols Interactions (human & environment) Demography, disease, migration, patterns of settlement, technology - "The Four Knights of Kai Khusrau in the Mountain’; shows how the King’s knights were loyal to them and how hierarchy can influence how people act. - Commoners could win recognition as elites by outstanding conduct (mostly from war) - The Mongols relied on outstanding equestrian skills and were among the most mobile forces of the premodern world - Conquested Northern China, Persia andSouthern China - Elites could return to the status of commoners - Chinggis Khan forged the various Mongol tribes - Temujin was the unifier of the Mongols Culture Religion, belief systems/ideologies, science, technology, art, architecture - “Tile with Image of Phoenix”-> After the Mongols took over Persia - The Mongols adopted symbols into their art and the image of the phoenix was one of them. - The Mongols from Nomads whose religion revolved around shamans but also some people converted to Buddhism, Nestorian Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Manichaeism.
Economics Agricultural, pastoralism, trade, commerce, labor systems, industry -Created a huge trade network which they also protected thoroughly to make sure merchants were safe when passing through - Mostly got commerce from trade -The volume of long-distance trade across central Asia dwarfed that of earlier eras. - “Footed Cup” The footed cup was used as a money vessel for purposes in Islamic Ilkhanid Iran.
