Describe how exploring your research question improved your understanding of the historical roots of your current event.
Because I was able to reflect on all the unfairness, injustices, and denial of fundamental human rights that Native Americans had to endure throughout history, investigating my research question helped me better appreciate the historical causes of my current occurrence and really appreciate being a Native American still thriving on the land that my people fought on during Wounded Knee occupation. Explain how biased perspectives influence what is known about both your historical and current events.
Bias perspectives in sources can greatly influence the information that is researched on in any topic. In my primary sources found on the Wounded Knee occupation, these are mainly accounts from the activists fighting the government. This information can sway the researcher right away as you are only seeing one side’s perspective. Propose how the narrative about your historical event might change if it were told from a missing perspective.
The focus of the narrative would be the activist opposing parties' narrative, or more specifically, the US government's narrative of the Wounded Knee occupation. Propose how the narrative about your current event might change if it were told from a missing perspective.
The narrative will, in my opinion, be conveyed more from the activist perspective than it is currently, which is mostly from the perspective of the police and the government, as they battle in the "cop city" forest.
