The first being an upper respiratory infection. AOM can happen at any age but is most frequently diagnosed between 6 and 24 months. There are three bacterial pathogens in AOM: Streptococcus pneumoniae, nontypeable Haemophilus influenzae, and/or Moraxella catarrhalis.
