Medieval History
We encounter various examples of medieval history in our everyday lives, such as in
education and crises worldwide. These aspects of our history influence our current lives
significantly. In education, some of the examples of medieval history include reading and writing
and the art of conversation that is still taught in schools today (
Geary, 2015). At the time, the
focus was on Latin and arithmetic. People still study arithmetic, and the art of conversation has
become more prominent given the current state where people rely on mobile devices for
communication.
Additionally, the global crises experienced in the USA and other nations also showcase
some examples of medieval history. For instance, the Covid-19 pandemic is a similar crisis to the
Black Death experienced in 1347 (
Geary, 2015). The significant number of infections and deaths
recorded globally emulate the pandemics of the medieval ages. Thus, the Covid-19 manifests
medieval history in terms of crises.
Moreover, there are numerous examples of medieval history in terms of Renaissance
today. For example, modern art movements such as Neo-Impressionism, Symbolism, Cubism,
and Fauvism are ways medieval renaissance history has made it into the modern world. These
new forms of art were developed based on the Renaissance movement, which led to the rebirth
of culture, art, and literature.
I can apply a multitude of things from history in my daily life. For instance, I use
arithmetic on a daily basis when making purchasing decisions for household and food items. I
have to choose the best product whose price lies within my budget. Additionally, I could use the
art of conversation to improve my communication skills when developing romantic relationships.
