Scoring Sheet AQI domain Score Support for Score 1) 1. Daily and Visual Schedules 3 Mathematical Reason: - All sub items in the “meets expectations” column is checked off and less than 50% is checked off in the “exceeds expectations” column. Summary of Observer Notes (in relation to your score): - The children were able to see the visual schedule of the day. The teacher planned fun activities such as making playdough, and the children had their own choice of activities to choose from. The educator also helped and chose a physical activity, yoga, after the children had their rest time How could the centre enhance their score in this area? The center can enhance its score in the area of organizational efficiency. According to the observer's notes, there is room for improvement in the daily schedule, particularly in updating it with current pictures that align with the weather. More actual changes need to be made to make sure that the timeframes for kids to dress and undress in the coat area are reasonable. In addition, the timetable was not updated as the day went on. This implies that the center needs to take a more flexible and dynamic approach to scheduling, which is crucial since it directly affects how smoothly everyday operations go and helps create a more orderly and effective workplace. In order to improve the score, the center might introduce a regular review and update procedure for the daily schedule, adding up-to-date images and making sure that schedules correspond with the children's real-world needs. Furthermore, encouraging a culture of adaptability and flexibility in following the schedule would help the everyday operations go more smoothly. 2) 4. Indoor Physical Environment 2 Mathematical Reason: - Not all sub items in the “meets expectation” are checked off and less than 50% of “does not meet expectations” is checked off Summary of Observer Notes (in relation to your score): - Although, the centre was not being diverse with the play materials, and no mirrors available in the classroom. There were various sizes of organized storage bins, where the children were able to experience an outdoor activity, such as being able to look out the window and see a bird eat from a bird feeder.
How could the centre enhance their score in this area? The center can enhance its score in the area of inclusive practices and diversity representation. According to the observer's notes, there is an opportunity to improve the availability of play materials that cater to children with disabilities, like dolls or books that demonstrate a range of abilities. The idea to install a mirror in the play center also highlights how important it is to create an environment that is welcoming and embraces diversity. This is important because it helps all children feel like they belong and understand each other, which develops empathy and awareness. The facility could expand its selection of playthings to include items that are particularly appealing to kids with impairments in order to raise the score. Incorporating two or more educational play materials in various places that represent a range of skill levels assures inclusivity and fosters a more welcoming environment. Furthermore, adding a mirror to the play area helps all kids have a healthy self-image and emphasizes the importance of diversity in the classroom. 3) 9. Language and Literacy 3 Mathematical Reason: - All sub items in the “meets expectations” column is checked off and less than 50% is checked off in the “exceeds expectations” column. Summary of Observer Notes (in relation to your score): - There were clearly labelled bins inside the classroom on the shelves of everything that was inside them such as art supplies, and matching puzzles on the shelves that were in English. The cubby area was very organized and had children’s names labelled on it in large fonts. Also, in the dramatic centre, there were many resources that the children could use to enhance their literally skills How could the centre enhance their score in this area? The center can enhance its score in the area of language and literacy development. According to the observer's notes, toy bins and shelves are already labeled with words and pictures, showing a strong commitment to contexts that are language-rich. But there's a chance to make even more of the everyday documenting of learning experiences in two or more languages and literacies. This shows that the center needs to take an organized approach to introducing a variety of linguistic exposures into everyday activities. This is crucial since it promotes the children's cognitive growth and cultural inclusion. The center could apply focused tactics to more smoothly incorporate linguistic variety into everyday operations in order to raise the score. Furthermore, encouraging family collaboration and making sure they have access to literacy resources would support a more comprehensive and deeper language learning environment. 4) 10. Music and Accessories 1 Mathematical Reason: - Not all sub items in the “meets expectation” are checked off and more than 50% of “does not meet expectation” is checked off Summary of Observer Notes (in relation to your score):

- Loud music was playing on the radio when the children were playing, in order for the teacher’s and children’s voices to be heard they had to speak above the music. Lastly, songs had inappropriate words for preschoolers. How could the centre enhance their score in this area? In the areas of cultural diversity and auditory stimulation, the center can improve its score. The observer's notes indicate that by turning down the radio's music volume, there is a chance to enhance the listening experience. This modification is essential because it helps to create a cozier and inviting environment for kids to participate. Furthermore, giving kids access to well- maintained musical instruments gives them a hands-on, meaningful experience that improves their sensory and cognitive development. The observer's remarks also imply that the staff might be extremely important by actively singing and playing music for the students. The center should think about adding songs from other cultures to the score in order to further improve it. This would help the kids develop a respect for variety and expose them to a wider range of musical traditions. Furthermore, this strategy would provide a more diverse and culturally rich learning environment, encouraging young people's knowledge and curiosity. 5) 12. Blocks and Construction 4 Mathematical Reason: - All sub items in “meets expectations” is checked off and 50% of “exceeds expectations” is checked off Summary of Observer Notes (in relation to your score): - The kids could play and explore with a variety of trucks, cars, and other toy vehicles that were available. Teachers had the ability to switch up the things in the block area or add new ones every day, all depending on the interests of the students. How could the centre enhance their score in this area? In the areas of project sustainability and sensory exploration, the center can improve its overall score. The observer's notes indicate that a system to save ongoing work could be implemented to improve the situation. Ensuring consistency and a sense of accomplishment for the youngsters involved is crucial. To further encourage tactile development and creative inquiry, the recommendation to incorporate three or more textures of blocks and building materials is in line with the need to diversity sensory experiences. These improvements are significant, according to the observer notes, because they create a more thorough and stimulating learning environment. The center should create a systematic method for documenting and reviewing current projects so that kids can build on their earlier work in order to improve the score. Furthermore, adding different textures to building blocks and materials promotes a multisensory approach to learning by encouraging tactile and cognitive growth in an entertaining way. 4 Mathematical Reason:
6) 14. Dramatic Play - All sub items in “meets expectations” is checked off and 50% of “exceeds expectations” is checked off Summary of Observer Notes (in relation to your score): - Several bins with labels such as "home," "restaurant," "veterinary," "library," and "baker" are present during the dramatic performance. Additionally, there is food from various cultures and actual objects like a whisk and a mixing bowl are present. How could the centre enhance their score in this area? In the areas of creative play and imaginative play, the center can improve its score. The observer's notes indicate that there is room for improvement by enticing kids to actively participate in the dramatic play area by making their own accessories and props. This implies that the center needs to encourage imaginative play in a more interactive and hands-on way. This is significant because it fosters in the kids a sense of creativity and ownership, which advances their social and cognitive growth. The center could introduce a structured program that allows kids to make their own accessories and props for the dramatic play area in order to raise the score. In addition to fostering creativity, this guarantees a more customized and interesting play experience. Children who are involved in the design and construction of props also feel prouder of themselves and have achieved something, which makes the learning environment more exciting and more dynamic. 7) 16. Toileting and Diapering Routines 2 Mathematical Reason: - Not a ll sub items in “meets expectations” are checked off and no sub- items in “does not meet expectations” is checked off Summary of Observer Notes (in relation to your score): - Both the potty training and diapering procedures are posted, and they are current. The change mat is clean. In order to get outside on time, the kids had to hurry through their tasks. For instance, the teachers allowed the kids ten seconds to sit on the toilet, but they also urged them to pull up or down their pants while using the restroom. The bathroom sinks are kid-sized, and the mirror is at children's eye level. If students require extra clothes, wipes, or diapers, educators have a bin of them. How could the centre enhance their score in this area? The center can improve on its score in the areas of child comfort and toileting routines. The observer's notes indicate that there is room for improvement, specifically in not rushing kids when it comes to changing their diapers and using the restroom. This implies that in this crucial
area of care, the center needs to take a more patient and child-centered approach. This is crucial for maintaining the kids' comfort and well-being as well as creating a happy, stress-free atmosphere. Allowing enough time for every child to use the restroom and change their diapers would improve the center's rating by encouraging a more laid-back and polite experience. Furthermore, creating a visually accessible picture symbol schedule that shows the toileting routine at a child's eye level while using the restroom and placing toilets in easily accessible locations within the room both contribute to a more welcoming and encouraging atmosphere. Furthermore, these actions enable kids to grow up feeling self-sufficient and confident in their self-care practices. 8) 17. Meals and/or Snack Times 5 Mathematical Reason: - Sub- items in both “meets expectations” and “exceeds expectations” are all checked off. Summary of Observer Notes (in relation to your score): - The routines for lunch and snacking were both relaxed, positive, and simple. There was music playing as the scene changed. Thank you for the food and each other was stated before eating. Children did not have to try everything; they could eat as much or as little as they wanted. Kids are seated in small groups with teachers. Children serve themselves with support if needed, and educators discuss personal questions about the children's interests and the day's activities. Kids fill glasses on their own. As they tide up and scrape plates, kids learn about appropriate recycling. How could the centre enhance their score in this area? The center has shown to be excellent at mealtime procedures, promoting an environment where the kids feel welcomed and happy. The observer's notes indicate that the lunch and snacking routines are marked by a laid-back and upbeat atmosphere, with the music selections during scene changes being thoughtfully done. Eating together can be encouraging and nutritious when children are given the freedom to choose their own portion sizes and express gratitude before meals. Children and teachers are seated in small groups, which helps to build a sense of community and encourages independence through self-service. Mealtime becomes even more social when teachers engage students in conversation about their hobbies and daily activities. Children gain important knowledge about environmental responsibility as they take part in cleanup and recycling activities. The center's mealtime procedures are excellent overall since they represent a comprehensive strategy for the growth and welfare of children. Since the center has been able to successfully create a positive and enriching dining environment for the children, there aren't any clear recommendations for improvement. 3 Mathematical Reason:

9) 23. Transitions - All sub items in the “meets expectations” column is checked off and less than 50% is checked off in the “exceeds expectations” column. Summary of Observer Notes (in relation to your score): - Washroom, cubbies and going outside was done with groups of children. Songs and marching are used to keep children on task. To support transitions, verbal reminders were used. When completing tasks that children knew the routine too positive encouragement was given. How could the centre enhance their score in this area? In the areas of engagement and transition planning, the center can improve its score. Making transition play materials easily accessible presents a chance for improvement, based on the observer's observations. This means that in order to ensure a seamless and interesting transition between activities, the center needs to take a more deliberate approach to supporting children during transitions. This is crucial because it helps kids have a smooth and happy transition experience by lowering their risk of stress or disturbance. In order to improve the score, the center could put in place a system that makes transition play materials easily available, giving kids something to do during transitions that are both productive and entertaining. The total educational experience is enhanced by adding structure and purpose to these moments through the documentation of learning experiences or scheduled activities for transitions. Additionally, teachers can establish significant learning opportunities and uphold a sense of continuity throughout the day with the help of a well-documented transition plan. 10) 29. Behaviour Guidance 2 Mathematical Reason: - Not all sub items in the “meets expectation” are checked off and less than 50% of “does not meet expectations” is checked off Summary of Observer Notes (in relation to your score): When speaking with the kids, the teachers kept their cool and approached them on their level. Positive interactions between the children were identified by the educators. When the kids needed help, the teachers went over the classroom rules with them again. For instance, when two kids were fighting over a toy, one of the teachers intervened and helped them work things out, but as soon as the teacher turned to face the other child, the fighting resumed, and the teacher chose to ignore it. The teacher finds this child to be difficult. When a child saw another child throwing a toy, the kids informed the teacher what the rules were. One of the educators appeared to be trying their patience with a child as they ignored him or her and walked away, but they ought to have helped the child. Teachers did help the kids talk to each other about conflicts and when there were disagreements.
- How could the centre enhance their score in this area? When it comes to social and emotional development, the center can make improvements. The observer's notes indicate that the staff could do a better job of encouraging positive behavior modeling and response techniques. This implies that staff actions at the center need to be more purposeful, especially when it comes to modeling taking and sharing behaviors. This is significant because it helps children develop healthy social environments and vital interpersonal skills. The center could use staff modeling of taking and sharing to raise the score by making sure that teachers actively model these behaviors in order to positively guide and influence the kids. A supportive and emotionally safe environment is also enhanced by staff members handling all situations with confidence and tranquility. A tailored and efficient approach to behavior management is ensured by modifying expectations in accordance with each person's needs and persistently implementing strategies. Furthermore, implementing redirection techniques that are suitable for a child's developmental stage enhances the learning atmosphere by enabling kids to handle social situations with assistance and direction. Discussion Program Philosophy Through Partnership with families, the ABC Child Development Centre strives to meet the needs of all children by offering a variety of group activities and experiences. The Centre provides a warm, nurturing, caring environment that will help diverse children to meet their full potential. The children are supported and guided through routines and learning experiences as they further develop decision-making skills, self-esteem, self-confidence, responsibility for their own actions and acceptance and respect for others Discussion : The program's philosophy does not align with what I've learned from the AQI evaluation's scoring. While I perused the scoring matrix. I came to see that the center is inconsistent with the philosophy. Although the center is not very diverse or flexible, it does follow through on providing children with a variety of play experiences that allow them to learn in different ways. I am aware of this because of how the Indoor Physical Environment assessment was graded. The center did not supply playthings featuring disabled individuals. The program's guiding principles
align with my assessment of Blocks and Construction, as the facility provided plenty of chances for kids to play around with various vehicles, including cars and trucks. Teachers also see to it that kids have choices when they play. Since the children may be exposed to two or more languages based on their AQI scores for language and literacy, the philosophy does not adequately reflect diversity. In conclusion, while some of the scoring sheet examples align with the philosophy, others still require improvement 1) Indoor Physical Environment (score 2) Web Resource: https://info.scholarschoice.ca/blog/7-ways-teachers-can-encourage-diversity-in- the-classroom?hs_amp=true This resource will help the program's score in this particular area because it offers numerous suggestions for how teachers can increase diversity and inclusivity in the classroom. Take "Include classroom signs in multiple languages" (Choice, S., 2018, May 25) as an illustration. This resource offers several ways to incorporate diversity into the classroom, as the center could benefit from having more of it. The source I selected is an online article that discusses how to increase diversity in the classroom and shares examples of what educators have done to foster inclusivity and diversity. It will raise the score because the center was penalized one point for failing to incorporate enough diversity or play materials that showcase various cultures and global origins. This resource improves the grade because it gives teachers ideas on how to make their classrooms more welcoming to people of different backgrounds and cultures.

2) Music and Accessories Web Resource: https://musicoutfitters.com/children.htm The resource I selected outlines numerous ways that kids, parents, and educators can optimize the positive effects that music can have on kids' lives. Children can learn about music, for instance, and how important it is. (Music Outfitters, n.d.) Children's Music Resources / Kid's Music Resources will raise the score since the center doesn't always meet the standards, and the guide will teach them how to improve the lives of the kids. The source I selected is an online article discussing the ways in which educators and parents can optimize the impact of music. In addition to helping teachers score higher, this resource can also improve the lives of the students. Learning Contract Group Members Names (printed) : 1. Gabriela Rose Gatto 2. Garieen Garib 3. We did note, though, that there were communication problems within the team. We all decided to create a group chat as a specific platform for open discussion in order to address this. By giving every team member the chance to voice opinions, ask questions, and share any worries, this strategy seeks to promote
open communication and teamwork. The team uses the group chat as a proactive tool to improve communication and make sure that everyone feels comfortable addressing problems as they come up. This helps the team work together more efficiently and solve problems more successfully.
