Component #1: Your thoughts and/or opinions of what you have learned in this course-20
points.
I think understanding health equality is crucial for building a fair and just society where
everyone can lead a healthy life, regardless of their background or circumstances. I’ve learned
that health equality requires overcoming barriers to healthcare access, including financial
limitations, lack of health insurance, transportation issues, language barriers, and discrimination.
I think improving access to quality healthcare services for every individual is vital to closing the
health gap, it's important to me because I was raised in poverty.
Component #2: Your feedback on what new information you learned in this course (if
citing course material, use APA citation)-20 points
Throughout this semester I’ve learned that achieving health equality requires collaboration
among policymakers, healthcare providers, communities, and advocacy groups. Together, they
can work towards creating policies and systems that promote equitable health outcomes. Health
equality is a multi-layered and ongoing process that requires commitment, collaboration, and
sustained effort at individual, community, and systemic levels.
Component #3: Your thoughts on how this new information impacted you (positive or
negative impact)-20 points
Learning about health equality has made a positive impact on me and is going to make me a
better clinician. I think understanding health equality involves acknowledging the complex
interplay of social, economic, and cultural factors that influence health outcomes. Working
collectively to ensure that everyone has the same opportunities for a healthy life should be the
bare minimum for the standard of care.
Component #4: Your feedback on how you will use this information in your day-to-day life
and/or academic career-20 points
For me, being introduced to health equality is significantly going to enhance my ability to be a
more competent and empathetic clinician. Understanding health equality helps develop cultural
competence, address health disparities, and have a patient-centered approach. It's going to help
me be more aware of unconscious biases that might influence my clinical decision-making.
Component #5: Spelling, grammar, appropriate citations in APA style (if applicable),
adherence to criteria below, addressing each component in at least 3 sentences-20 points
You can include information related to readings, journal articles, and videos in your
reflection paper.
The journal articles, videos, and readings that were offered this semester helped give me insight
from different experts and researchers. That provided me with diverse perspectives on different
objectives in this course. The exposure to varied viewpoints helped broaden my understanding
and critical thinking skills. (I was confused by the wording of this question. I’m not sure if I
answered correctly.)
