53% SOFT BONES POROUS BONE FRACTURE/BREAK Due to brittle and weak bones. Softening of bones causes a “bowing” leg shape and may lead to bone deformities. Porous bone may cause bone to easily break/fracture. It may also cause lots of pain. Not enough vitamin D makes it difficult to maintain proper calcium and phosphorus levels in bones, which can cause rickets or osteoporosis. Adding vitamin D or calcium to the diet generally corrects the bone problems associated with these conditions. (7) Vitamin D is a nutrient needed for good health. This vitamin provides help towards building strong bones and protects one's chances from developing osteoporosis. (3) What is Vitamin D? RDA CHART FOR VITAMIN D Two forms of vitamin D in supplements are D2 (ergocalciferol) and D3 (cholecalciferol) which increase vitamin D in the blood. It is also known that D3 raises vitamin D concentrations higher and longer than D2 supplements. (2) Main Sources of Vitamin D (3) Can Vitamin D Prevent Osteoporosis and Rickets? Osteoporosis and Rickets: Adverse effects of these conditions (4) A Colombia study showed that prevelance of osteoporosis is approximalty 53% of low Vitamin D levels. (1) Osteoporosis is a condition where the bones become brittle and weak due to reduced bone mass. The condition may lead to hip fractures in the elderly. (5) Rickets is the softening or weakening of bones in children due to inadequate intake of Vitamin D. (2) How Vitamin D works to preventing these conditons? How Vitamin D prevents osteoporosis and Rickets? NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTATION This chart contains RDA’s for the recommend amount of Vitamin D consumption for each life stage. (2) Fatty fish, fortified foods(milk), eggs, sun, etc. Osteoporosis can cause muscle and bone pain, particulary in the back. (5) It helps enhance intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. Low concentrations of vitamin D are associated with impaired calcium absorption, which results in excessive bone resorption. (6)
