Camosun College Parking and Transportation Survey
This Survey is used in Understanding Your Preferences and Feedback on the Proposed Park
and Ride Program. From this Survey, we will come to know the feelings and preferences of
students, faculty, and support staff at Camosun College regarding a potential park-and-ride
program. Your Voice Matters!
Share Your Thoughts to Help Alleviate Parking and Traffic Congestion
Background of the Survey The survey is being conducted to gather insights and preferences from students, faculty, and
support staff at Camosun College regarding the potential implementation of a park-and-ride
program in collaboration with Hillside Mall (Lansdowne) and Tillicum Mall (Interurban). The
survey aims to evaluate the feasibility and desirability of such a program to alleviate parking and
traffic congestion at both college campuses.
This survey will be distributed among undergraduate and graduate students, professors,
instructors, teaching staff, and administrative and non-academic staff within the Camosun
College community. The survey will be distributed to individuals affiliated with both the
Lansdowne and Interurban campuses of Camosun College, encompassing the Greater Victoria,
British Columbia region.
Sample Plan: -
As the survey only aims for 10-20 respondents, the respondents can be divided
the population into subgroups based on specific characteristics, and then a proportionate
number of respondents from each subgroup such as by role (students, faculty, support staff)
and by campus (Lansdowne, Interurban). This guarantees that we have a representative
sample that takes into account the viewpoints of each significant group. This uses a stratified
sampling approach which divides the respondents into subgroups to get a representative
sample that considers all perspectives. To effectively gather responses from the college community, we will use a variety of distribution
and return mechanisms to efficiently:-
1.
Online survey:
An online survey platform will be used as the main distribution method,
enabling respondents to complete the survey by clicking on a web link. This strategy is
effective and practical, particularly for faculty and staff who are used to digital
communication.
2.
Email:
A link to the online survey will be included for the participants. The objective and
significance of the survey will be briefly explained in the email, which will encourage
participation.
3.
College website and social media
: To reach a larger audience, we will post links to the
survey on the official Camosun College website and social media platforms.
4.
Distribution in Person:
A small number of paper surveys will be available at key places
on both campuses for anyone who would want to complete the survey that way. There
will be designated drop-off boxes for the completed paper surveys.
The online survey will accommodate the choices and convenience of the Camosun College
community while making data gathering and analysis simple. The combination of online and in-
person distribution methods ensures a more comprehensive and inclusive approach to
collecting valuable feedback.
