Caselet Assignment Caselet Assignment Jalen Christine, Donovan Deignan, Christopher Evans, Amanda Hurt, Alexis Reynolds, Emily Scherf James Seymour Indian River State College MAN4046: Perspective in Leadership Summary of the Caselet. A design team consists of six people: two women and four men. Within the group, two are African American; and four are Caucasian. There are two senior ranks, three middle ranks, and one junior rank. Two group members are NPs known for their openness to new ideas and experimenters. Four group members are NTs, who are rational and like to be realistic. The two group members with the NP personality want to experience and wait until the last minute to finish the project. The remaining members want to have a plan in motion so that it can be executed excellently. The team leader switched and everyone has been a leader. The group needs help coming to a decision, which is decreasing the team's morale. Respectful communication The most important thing to have a successful team is excellent communication. The key to great communication is respecting and listening to your team members. Everybody on your team wants the same things; being respectful and having good communication skills will help your success. In this case, two members are holding the whole team back because they want to experiment. That is not fair to the other team members. While it is encouraged for team members to speak up and contribute to the project, it is disrespectful to stop the rest of your team members from success because you want to experiment. A deadline was in place, so any new agenda should have been brought forward early and voted on by the other team members. The first mistake made was nobody was on the same page. Everyone in the group wants to do their own thing, and no one is willing to compromise. Not solidifying a plan has caused frustration, which was the cause of the low morale. Ethical decision making Ethical decision making is an important factor for a business to consider when making any type of important decision. In this particular case, the majority of the team felt that they knew what was best for the customer even though preliminary customer feedback was poor. From an ethical soundpoint the team should have been pursuing options that best fit the customer for the benefit of the business to have the opportunity to be successful and profitable. Making decisions that do not align with the greatest good of the company but instead align with personal preference is an unethical way to practice business. Relationship Building Relationship building is a vital part of a team project. Building connections is a wise strategy to enhance creative ideas and to think outside the box. The project design team did not work well together or have trust in their teammates. There was more focus on conflicting ideas than working together as a team and building relationships with team members. Tension was built and this led to poor decision making on the project. Conflict Resolution Conflict Resolution refers to the process of addressing and finding solutions to disputes or disagreements between individuals or groups. It involves identifying the sources of conflict, understanding the perspectives of all parties involved, and implementing strategies to reach a mutually acceptable resolution. Effective conflict resolution often requires good communication, empathy, negotiation skills, and a collaborative mindset. In this caselet, a design team confronts a critical conflict fueled by diverse personalities and preferences regarding project timelines. The team's struggle to reach a decision, exacerbated by frequent leadership changes, has led to a decline in morale. Effective conflict resolution, incorporating respectful communication, ethical decision-making, and relationship-building strategies, is imperative to overcome these challenges. By implementing structured conflict resolution approaches, fostering open communication through team-building exercises, and prioritizing leadership development, the team can navigate diverse perspectives, bridge gaps, and ultimately enhance collaboration. Resolving this conflict is not only crucial for achieving project goals but is also essential for maintaining a positive team dynamic and preserving overall morale. Caselet Assignment
