Pre/Post Test Assessment 2 Pre/Post Test Assessment Within the field of Professional School Counseling Pre/Post Test are imperative when it comes to measuring changes in knowledge, attitude or skill that occur before and after an intervention has been implemented (Young & Kaffenberger, 2022). For this assignment I have been instructed to share a few Pre/Post Test Assessment questions that I created in relation to my lesson plan developed for 6 th grade middle school students regarding social skills. Checking your phone Data Collection Strategy Now that we have identified some of the Pre/Post Test assessment questions, let’s discuss how these questions are going to be presented to students. With there being such advancements in technology, I believe that using an online data collection would be better suited for lesson plans. Google Forms is the platform I would use to present the questions to students (Young & Kaffenberger, 2022). According to the text Google Forms has multiple benefits when used within an educational setting (Priyanda, et.al, 2021). An array of tests can be housed within this platform, some of these tests consist of multiple choice, short essay and descriptive (Priyanda, et.al, 2021). Another benefit with this platform is that it is free, all one must ensure is that they create a google account for free and ensure they have access to an electronic device (Priyanda,

Pre/Post Test Assessment 4 et.al, 2021). Google forms make it much easier for educators to develop, distribute and collect data. Within this platform there are also tools provided to help analyze and summarize the data collected (Young & Kaffenberger, 2022). Data Informed Decision Making School Counselors rely heavily on data to make informed decisions regarding the needs of the school and their students. First and foremost, before a counselor can implement a program, they must identify the need of the program first. Thus, collecting data to see if the program is needed is often identified through a data collection process. Collecting the data can be done through the completion of surveys by students, faculty, and parents. Once the need is identified through data collection and a plan to address the need is set in place to eliminate the problem, which is then presented to stakeholders. Once the plan has been implemented the effectiveness is determined by data collection as well. Collecting the date before the implementation of the program and afterwards is one of the most effective ways to measure the program’s success. Data Collection and Advocacy In my experience thus far working within the school system previously the data collected to give credibility to a need can be used to advocate for programs and students. The data collected can be used to present to stakeholders requesting the need for more staff support, funding, and resources to support the school as well as the school counseling program. For example, in the event a school needs more school counseling services and resources I could present to stakeholders the positive effects that having multiple school counselors housed in one
