Week One – Strategic Management Fundamentals In Week One we will explore the evolution of strategic management and the impact it has on managers in healthcare. We will examine the external environmental factors that impact healthcare organizations. Students will focus on the significance of and benefit of conducting an environmental analysis. Students will differentiate between strategic management, strategic planning, and managing strategic momentum. Identify strategic alternatives available to healthcare organizations. 2. Discuss and evaluate appropriate adaptive strategic alternatives for a healthcare organization. 3. Determine whether selected strategies are consistent and coordinated and if they are a good fit. Describe why contingency planning is needed in the healthcare organization.
