1.
Describe telehealth and telemedicine. How are they alike and how do they differ? Explain your answer. (20 points)
Telehealth and telemedicine are both about getting healthcare services through technology, but they have some differences.
Telehealth includes a wide range of healthcare activities, like talking with your doctor over video, getting health education online, or managing medical records digitally. It's not just about medical visits; it covers all sorts of health-related things you can do from a distance. Telemedicine, on the other hand, is a part of telehealth. It's more specific and focuses on medical visits or consultations using technology. With telemedicine, doctors can diagnose and treat patients remotely, often through video calls or sharing medical information electronically.
Both telehealth and telemedicine make use of technology like computers, smartphones, and the internet to make healthcare more convenient. They're especially helpful when you can't easily visit a doctor's office. The big difference is that telehealth covers a broader range of healthcare services, including non-medical ones like health education, while telemedicine is mainly about remote medical consultations and treatment.
